Be concerned when a speaker is given a unilateral platform to speak. For many this is taken as an endorsement.

Academic Freedom you say? Baloney!
It certainly would not be taken so by any college student. All students become aware of the incredible diversity open to them. Nobody gets confused as to their being an endorsement for heavens sake.

I can but wonder why conservatives feel so threatened of other ideas that they feel it is better to suppress them than to argue them. I of course also wonder why conservative Catholics are so incredibly bent on theocratic rule. Well, actually I don’t wonder, but that you are so incredibly open about it is interesting.

Mysteriously there is this message posted on my school’s webpage:

I never told anyone that I was going to object to this event, so it looks like their must be others that are concerned like I am.

btw, if anyone would like to know, I go to Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
aquinas.edu
Good for Aquinas. That is a bit of a step given the ultra conservativism of Grand Rapids!

Good to hear it is postponed. If they reschedule, let us know. Perhaps we can get some Catholic blogsphere energy going.
Yes by all means. stop your ears and close your eyes. That is certainly the best way I know to gain wisdom. Protect the masses lest the become confused and get the wrong idea. They aren’t as smart as we are who know how dangerous things are. Oh gosh, I fear we return to the dark ages, which were never so dark as believed, but the next one could really be a doozy.

I think I’ve presented enough here that readers can decide who’s made their case and who is vomiting up the usual subjectivist platitudes. Peace be with you.

Imagine my surprise.

You misunderstood, it’s not back on (yet) thankfully.
It probably will be soon. Has this made the local papers? If they would print on this, it would sell well and make the locals question the school’s educational mission about not allowing this to happen. I see just a postponement, not a cancellation.

I have always found gay people to be really cool, they also seem to have alot of emotional intelligence.

I have a great gay friend, I always joke around with him and say if I wasn’t a straight man, I would have married him, lol.

I see nothing wrong with the Safe Zones. From your link:

I am glad it is back on, I hope it will be a enlightening experience for both sides to have a fair discussion on the issue presented. 👍
Its says their looking to make ALL the school a SAFEZONE. Pretty much their saying “Lets strip away every Catholic Fiber this College currently has”, which by reading, isn’t alot…

Tremendous disservice to the parents paying money to send their children to a Catholic School.

I have no problem if a University wants to do this. But it needs to remove “Catholic” from its title then. Otherwise its just false advertising.

I can’t help but think about the verse of Jesus warning about the “tares in the field”. I can respect atheists and other non-christians and their views, but when you get these Pro-Choice “Catholics” and these moral relativists who call themselves Catholic then that really gets me, because they undermine and confuse the regular Catholic community with their filth. Its takes an enourmous amount of pride and a grievous love of sin to think your opinion overrides an infallible declaration of the Church.

Aside from their difference in sexual orientation and their choices, they are just people. “Love the person - Hate the sin”.

Ha. Tell these college students that. Tell the professors that. You’ll get laughed at, and for good reason.

A “grevious love of sin”? An “enormous (sic) amount of pride”?

First of all, that’s a terrible way to spread the message of Jesus. Second of all, the idea that it is not only wrong to doubt ANY church teaching related to faith or morals - but that it means a *fault of character *(pride, according to you) and a *lack of morality *(“love of sin”, as you so eloquently put it) - is ridiculous nonsense.

Yes, im sure secular people would laugh at me, and cafeteria Catholics who don’t even follow the teachings of their church. But God has stated in the Bible, the Church, the counsils and ECFs, and Holy Tradition that homosexuality is a sin. It is pride through and through to think your errored personal opinion can override God’s declaration in Holy Writ and the Church. Either Pride or such love of sin that they will seek justification ANYWHERE to help with their extreme denial. This man should not be going to Catholic colleges because it is a disservice to the people who pay for their children to go there. If he wants to spread his justification of Sodomy and elementary phrases such as “yes, they DO fit” and other ad hominem then he should goto some secular pride parade where the shoe fits him.

Helloo!!! My point is they shoudl be debated not given a unopposed platform.

A few programs may be starting up for colleges:
  1. How to be a cat burglar
  2. How to steal cars
  3. How to make bombs
    4 etc…
Are you encouraging your child to sign up for these?

Promotion of homosexuality has nothing to do with wisdom. The students aren’t missing anything by not having this man here. Secondly certain things are kept from private schools, thats what makes them private in the first place.
