I read on another forum…

The original Hebrew that this was written in mentions nothing of a hip and socket. In fact a direct translation from Hebrew reveals that God actually kicked Jacob right square in the nuts!"

Must have been some kick to make Jacob walk with a limp ever afterwards :bigyikes: lucky he already had his 12 sons I guess!

And isn’t is the HIP joint that Jews didn’t eat after this incident? Can’t imagine they had ever started eating animal gonads let alone ceased doing so

Perhaps we do need a Hebrew scholar to set us right.

I don’t know any Hebrew, but I discovered this website recently. The blue letter bible defines the Hebrew word translated as touch as:

naga
1) to touch, reach, strike
a) (Qal)
1) to touch
2) to strike
3) to reach, extend to
4) to be stricken
