To me, Couric is a features journalist. She’s great at things like the Olympics and the Oscars. But I really don’t like to hear from her news like, “Today, twelve troops were killed in Iraq by a roadside bomb” or “Sixty charges of sodomy against alleged pedophile who held 2 boys captive in St. Louis suburb.”

She’s just too “cute” to be taken seriously. I guess that could qualify at “cute bias” on my part. Apologies to all of you who are cute and serious.

I still miss Walter Cronkite! To me, he was the perfect newscaster. It was like listening to my father talk. I trusted his wisdom, and appreciated his occasional outbursts of emotion (e.g., when Kennedy was shot).
This is by far the most direct, honest, unbiased and sensible post this thread …IMHO. She is just a talking head not to be taken too seriously, like the rest of the media talking heads.

I just saw something that Cronkite is a sponsor for and it was a liberal cause. I believe he is still alive. He is in favor of a World Government, opposed the War in Vietnam, opposes the war in Iraq, and called Fox News, A Right-Wing program.

There is another older former news anchor that always speak against the Right and speaks for women causes. I am not sure if he is Maurie Shaefer?

The man I am gaining some respect for isTed Koppel. For years he has been to the left and now he is out speaking in favor or Bush and the War.(I understand why after looking at wikipedia as his parents are Jewish.)

Brian Williams worked for the democratic party so you have to believe he is bias.(Ann Coulters’ book - I believe he worked for Pres.Carter) Tim Russet is another one that is connected to the left.

Gender bias is a cop out for CBS/Katie Couric. They were third in the ratings even when they had Dan Rather, who is not a woman.

If they didn’t do that well with a man as anchor then it is illogical to assume gender bias when there is a woman anchor. I, as a woman, find this excuse insulting.

I don’t claim the gift of discernment but I always suspected a bit of demonic influence not simply with her but with her former co-host at NBC. I don’t watch her.
