Gender God gives

Is it normal for some people to be angry towards God at the gender they were born with?Since it is totally out of ones control? I know someone who doesn’t like being a female and wishes she were male. Males have it easier in modern society, it’s a very hard life to be a woman now.
🧐

Perhaps you should delve into a little history about women’s suffrage movement, or how it wasn’t till recent history that women were even allowed to have a voice or own property, or vote.
To say women have it hard now is a dubious statement.

*(That is unless your a woman in parts of the world where you have no voice, are treated as property, are denied an education, forced into marriage, are forced to wear clothing that only reveals your eyes, not allowed to drive a car, not allowed to walk the streets alone, are in a constant war zone, are forced to flee your home with your infant due to war, are captive sex slaves, then yes they indeed have it hard)

Respectfully,

M

This women should try spending more time with guys and getting to know them. Men are less likely to talk about their problems for fear of appearing weak, but, they do indeed struggle.

Or what about those who are Intersex, (Older literature called it Hermaphrodite), as I wonder how they struggle with it. How does the church classify the gender of a person in this case. And could an intersex person with a calling to become to become either a nun or a priest, depending on what religious vocation they believe they are called to? ? I’m being serious.

I think some people are mad at God for many things, it’s not ‘normal’ just cos many or even some people are, no one should be mad at God, what it is, is sad, but God understands he made us he understands everything.
It’s OK to be mad at God. Even prophets get mad at God. The prophet Jeremiah did.

It’s just my opinion (hence, I think). And just because people do something doesn’t mean it is a good thing to do, just that it happens and God accepts it because he is good, not because we are righteous or perfect. People in the OT sinned that doesnt mean sinning is ok, even Holy people we’d call saints, like David or Moses. I’m just saying that no one should get mad at God, the fact that we do is something he understands because he is good, not because it’s righteous. If we know God better, then we won’t get mad at him because we will accept his ways even if we dont understand them. We should aim to know and love him better.

Just out of curiosity… Why do you say it is hard being a woman right now?

The quality of life for everyone has certainly improved over the past 200 years, especially over the last century or so.

With respect to women in particular, they seem to have more opportunities than ever…

Gender Dysphoria is common amongst both sexes anyway, so it doesn’t seem to be exclusively just a genetically female concern.

Objectively speaking, men have problems that women don’t have and vice versa.

I think it is hard being a woman in my case because I am not beautiful even by very relaxed standards. I consider myself ugly and women are prized mostly for their looks. Add to that coming from a culture where women are considered inferior to men.

However I still don’t want to be a man.

It’s easy to think others have it easier when truth is, we don’t know the struggles they are going through.

A attractive young smart lady as yourself finds life difficult… Hmm… Life isn’t easy for us guys either.

Agree

I think of God as the ultimate author and he is writing a story. We are the characters and we play a part in his story.

Our purpose is to learn from God our part in the story and his purpose for us.

I think you have it backwards. If a person is homely, that is their super power.

I saw in school that a person who was especially nice to the pretty people and didn’t have the time of day for less pretty people allowed their character to show through. People who are loving and don’t show partiality because of looks was easy to see as well. Many good looking people I know were fooled by others because they didn’t have the advantage of being homely. Like I did. This works for both genders.

Example. A guy hurries over to open a door for a young pretty woman and smiles at her. Nothing unusual about that. The same guy hurries over to open a door for an older woman who is walking with a cane. Now there’s a person with something special.

Homeliness does not prevent you from loving your neighbor and loving God, growing in holiness. You can be a saint and homeliness may even help that. It’s a superpower I tell you no kidding.

I agree. People deal with me as me and when they like me, it’s for my personality.

I think beauty is a double edged sword. It can also bring unwanted attention.

Beauty also doesn’t last. It departs during old age like leaves in autumn.

What does it say in Proverbs 31?

Beauty is fleeting and charm deceptive but a woman who fears the Lord shall be praised.

Yet we have a lower life expectancy, are more likely to struggle with drug/alcohol addiction, more likely to die by suicide, more likely drop out of school/not pursue higher education, and more likely to end up homeless.

Where’s my male privilege card again?

Snark aside, how about if we acknowledge that there are difficulties/struggles associated with being a man, and difficulties/struggles associated with being a woman?

A priest once told me that the worst thing to do to God is to be indifferent towards him.

No

Being neither hot or cold but tepid.

Not really committing to anything.

St. Rose of Lima, St. Clare of Assisi, and I’m sure others were once attractive and shaved their heads to avoid the temptations and self-absorption that can come with good looks. In most times and cultures, beauty is power . . . and often the only power women have had. But these saints ironically gained power by giving up beauty.

I had a dear friend in high school who was gorgeous! She was also very lonely, constantly worried if people were genuinely her friend or just using her.

The whole looks issue is a mixed bag.

I know many women in my life who have shaved their heads, is this a good thing to do? I have heard it is for vanity purposes but I have also heard it’s strange.

I know orthodox Jewish women shave their heads and then wear a wig.

Personally speaking, I have my hairdresser shave off two thirds of my hair. It’s the layers closest to my head so it’s not obvious. I have a regular hairstyle on top but when you lift up the hair, you can see the shaved part.

The reason why I have it shaved is that I have so much hair that shaving off two thirds leaves me as much hair as the average person.
