Where the Church hasn’t stated anything either way
Wrong.
Male and Female He Created Them.
That’s the title of the 2019 Vatican document that rejects gender ideology.
It’s also the original title of the collection of Wednesday audiences now known as Theology of the Body that rejected gender ideology before it even had the name gender ideology.

And yet there unexpected conditions, including 20+ kinds of intersex conditions. Things happen and we can make sure that people who don’t fit neatly into one of two boxes have a place.

The Vatican hasn’t told us that it’s a sin to address people with the pronouns that they request. That hardly means that you have to submit to “gender ideology.”

Not just Roman Catholics but Eastern Catholics as well. 🙂

But really, only 2 sexes. Gender is in the language, incl. the pronouns, & there are 3 linguistic genders in English, masculine, feminine, & neuter; also in German & Latin. In Swedish there are 2, common (i.e. for male & female) & neuter. Other languages vary.

But calling sex “gender”, & “gender ideology” in general, were come up w/ by John Money, the same evil pervert who castrated David Reimer, forced him & his brother into sexual acts together, made pornography of them, drove them both to suicide, & demonstrated what the faithful already knew: it’s impossible to turn a boy into a girl.

I definitely will not call a man “she” or a woman “he” if that person tells me to. It’s a lie & false witness. Those are certainly sins.

It’s esp. insulting for a man to pretend to be a woman & expect us women to accept him as one, as if he makes a better woman, b/c he is more powerful than us. It’s oppressive. He makes a mockery of the Church (which is feminine); pads his hips to mock our childbearing ability; puts on false breasts to mock our child-nurturing ability; wears makeup & often a wig, to entice other men, luring them from chastity; & likely commandeers the name of a female saint.

I will call the person what God made him or her. People who can’t accept their own selves shouldn’t bully me into accepting their lies, & if facing reality has become debilitating, the person should be getting help w/ it.

I think, from what I’ve read, the issue is more it feels like we’re being forced to lie
Lie about what?
and not at all based on appearance
It is based on appearance if you insist on using the wrong pronouns when you believe a person is a transperson but can’t do so consistently because you can’t tell always tell a person is trans.
Life or death over pronouncing a name?
Life and death for some. There is a high rate of suicide in the trans community and deliberately misgendering exacerbates their dysphoria.
We’ve “evolved “ into being so accepting and taking no stand all in the name of inclusivity.
And the Church has ignored intersex, trans, gay, lesbian, bisexual members and their needs. They do need to be acknowledged and included.
When I search Catholic Answers and I see posts from 2007 or so Im so glad it’s an older bunch. I wonder why they left
CAF lost a lot of good posters with the platform change, and many others have been suspended, others died or became ill, others got busy with school, or their young families before and since
Muting this thread but the prediction is someone will have a witty insulting comeback
Maybe that’show some play but I try to respond to points that are made and insults aren’t tolerated and can result in suspension.

It’s only polite to address people in the way they prefer to be addressed.
Just as we must be careful not to use the truth to injure, we must not try to make truth the slave of politeness.

The rapid spread of the enormously destructive new gender ideology has been enabled by those who tacitly consent to it. Elevating politeness above reality is one form of tacit consent.

Nothing like condemning the teachings of Christ’s One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church on a Roman Catholic forum.

Absolutely. Sins of calumny and / or blaspheming God’s Creation.

Enormously destructive and the work of the devil, whose #1 targets are human sexuality, marriage and family. The devil hates God’s creation of man and woman. He hates the nuptial relationship and the communion of persons. He will distort and confuse human understanding of gender as a tactic that is integral to his plan.

Absolutely spot on. John Money’s name and horrific legacy should be much better known.

I think you’re minimizing how bad it is when your neighbors can report you to people who drag you out of your house in the middle of the night.

I don’t know what the official Catholic position is on pronouns, if there is one. But if someone wants be known as a name other than the one they were born with, I believe that is only respectful to go by their wishes.
Sorry but anyone saying this is making a mistake.

It is a lie and an acceptance of sin

Being kind is just a general courtesy that should be given to people. Some of the responses in this thread are aggressive, and people who are already having a tough time do not need to be piled on. They are already struggling and suffering. It might make you (general you) feel better to do it, but it does nothing for them.
