General Confession For Lent

I’m thinking about making a general confession before this coming Easter. I am purchasing St. Francis de Sales’ Introduction To the Devout Life, which I’ve heard has a good chapter on general confessions.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas about where I can find information?

A confession should come from the heart. Period. Do what you think you should do. Don’t let a book tell you what to confess.

A general confession is a confession that covers the sins of all or a large chunk of your life - usually done by a baptised adult who’s converting or reverting and either has never confessed before or hasn’t done so for years.

Usually a lot longer to prepare for and confess than your common or garden variety of confession.

Well, this is what I thought it was but the way the OP was using the term I thought I was missing something special.
