Back when I joined the church, I gave a general confession of 20+ years of things, and in that I’m fairly certain I confessed “lewd acts” (I think that was the exact verbiage I used) even though I couldn’t remember all the specifics. Well I just remembered one specifically, although it happened so long ago I don’t actually precisely remember all the details of it.

Am I covered by my original general confession or do I need to go confess it more specifically?

For context, I confess pretty much weekly (even when I don’t have a mortal sin) and I do have compulsive tendencies/thoughts so I struggle with scrupulosity.

For more context, I knew this sin was wrong, but I wasn’t fully aware of the gravity of it at the time (I was 13-14 I believe).

If you genuinely forgot the sin, then it was already absolved when your other sins were absolved.

However, if it’s bothering you, mention it to the priest next time you go and then it will be off your mind.

Additionally, if you are scrupulous, please do not post questions about sins or confessions here; speak to your priest in person instead (since you see him every week anyway) as it is not healthy for you to seek answers about sins on this forum, and we’re discouraged from responding so that we don’t make your condition somehow worse.
