How does the tribulation occur?

Assuming from this Verse,
“we the living, will be taken together with them [the risen dead] in the clouds to meet the Lord” (First Thessalonians 4:17)

so if i got this right, the dead will have already been resurrected before we (the living) be taken “in the clouds to meet the Lord”?

but what about us residing on a new earth?

Doesn’t the bible speak of a “new earth” to be created after Armageddon? does that mean after going to heaven to be judged, we’ll be dropped back to earth again to live forever? is that right?

Just wanna clear some things to better understand the faith.🙂

thanks for the links youve given, but unfortunately, it is not what i was looking for, i understand the different views of the rapture and the protestant doctrine of rapture itself.

I am merely asking, what will happen to us, Catholic Christians? are we to remain on earth when the tribulation occurs? what happens next? doesnt revelation speak of the multitude of Christians (Great Crowd) being under the tabernacle of God “in Heaven”? how do we reconcile with such passages?

Some verses speak of Christians going to heaven (Rev 19:1) and yet, we are not “raptured” from the Earth? so we are to stay and preach the gospel throughout the world? but then, were back to square one, doesnt revelation speak of Christians being in heaven “before the throne” and “in God’s Temple”?

Sorry. Mea culpa.

Frankly, the ambiguity relating to the End of Times is reason enough for me to focus more on the Epistles and Gospels. I’m not saying that I ignore the Book of Revelations; I trust God that He will fulfill the prophesies and protect the righteous.

I personally focus on the basics: before the end of times, there will be great persecution. Christ will come and raise the dead and judge us all. The wicked will be damned, the righteous saved. Then there will be a new age of Heaven for all eternity.

That is all I know; and I trust God to fill in the gaps. Looking into these gaps take away the focus of the Gospels and Good News. Why study something that we, as humans, will not know when it will come (cf. Matthew 24:44).

If you want to understand the tribulation, you must view it from the point of view that it has two purposes.

First to remove the church triumphant from the earth before the judgements begin. However, remember the parable of the 10 virgins. Not only must you have your lamp ready, you also must have oil to light the lamp to show you the way when you are called. Are you asleep or are you ready?

Second, it is to finally get the Chosen People Israel to see that He is their God and they are His People. They will not survive the 7 year tribulation without the miracles God provides.

After the defeat of satan at Meggido, those who were alive and taken up, will return and govern with Jesus Who sits on David’s Throne in Jerusalem. It is all about jerusalem. I am afraid it is not about rome.

The new earth comes after this 1000 year period of perfect peace. Then satan will be looosed again and the final war happens. then the Great Whilte throne judgement and evil ones are thrown into the lake of Fire.

the earth will be renewed by fire and eternity begins. heaven ( as the new jerusalem) comes down and we will be able to move back and forth between heaven and earth.

While the catholic church traditional leans to an amillennial view, it does not completely rule out a pre-tribulation “rapture” or “catching up”. Do you read the prophecies as literal,or not, as well as the letters of Saint paul and the Revalation of Jesus Christ to John?

I am looking for a Catholic view of this :o

does the Catholic Church’s understanding permits Christians to be literally brought to heaven to rule with Him there? Im trying to explain the Christian view of the last things to my JW friend, but not just any Christian view but a Catholic view.

I ask this because Jehovah’s witnesses insist that we are to “live on earth and reside therein forever” - psalms. JWs believe we remain on earth and the earth will remain as it is. What do Christians mean btw about a “new earth”? What are Catholics to believe? the Lord says “this world will pass away, but my word, by no means will pass away” (forgot the verse). What does the “new earth” mean by the way? Is this “new earth” still our present earth, only without sin and death?

and can anyone give me the biblical reference about humans being able to travel between heaven and Earth after the judgment? and what is the state of heaven and earth after God has made all his promises to us? Will earth be one with heaven? will heaven and earth still be distinct yet we can travel back and forth between them?

Or better yet, Can anyone give me a sequence of events following the fall of Satan to earth after the battle in heaven? (so i can easily comprehend:D)

me thinks you are not getting many answers because understanding the endtimes and the events leading up to the Second Coming is little understood by catholics because it explains prophecy as if it concerned the catholic church rather than Israel

Many bebelive that the Revalation of Jesus Christ to john actually is an explanation of Mass.

Or it all happened with Nero.

But I do hope someone comes to your rescue and can give you the "catholic’ answers.
