Genesis 1: 4 & Exodus 20: 8

Are theses two words related separate “badad” (Genesis 1: 4) and holy “qadash” (Exodus 20: 8)?

Any helpful information would be really nice.

We may need more information on what language or translations or context you are studying in order to help further.

From what little I’ve found:is transliterated Hebrew, meaning “to be holy” or “to be consecrated.”*qadash *

The word *badad *is also transliterated Hebrew, meaning “alone” or “separated.”
 
I am studying the Literal Interpretation of Genesis, St. Augustine.

The ideas of the separation of light from darkness and the “holy” as separated caught my atttention.

The two “separates” seem important to me.

How are they similar?

How are they different?

Having limited knowledge of Hebrew, Greek and Latin, I need help in discerning why the sacred authors used different works for similar concepts and realities.
