As I said before, I am studying Genesis. I think it is very critical to understand it. It explains to us who we are and where we come from. And helps us understand exactly what happen in our salvation. Can anyone help to analyze and make sens of all paralles in Adam’s story and Jesus’s story. And the Lord God took man, and put him into the paradise of pleasure, to dress it, and to keep it. 16 And he commanded him, saying: Of every tree of paradise thou shalt eat: 17 But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat. For in what day soever thou shalt eat of it, thou shalt die the death. 18 And the Lord God said: It is not good for man to be alone: let us make him a help like unto himself. 19 And the Lord God having formed out of the ground all the beasts of the earth, and all the fowls of the air, brought them to Adam to see what he would call them: for whatsoever Adam called any living creature the same is its name. 20 And Adam called all the beasts by their names, and all the fowls of the air, and all the cattle of the field: but for Adam there was not found a helper like himself. 21 Then the Lord God cast a deep sleep upon Adam: and when he was fast asleep, he took one of his ribs, and filled up flesh for it. 22 And the Lord God built the rib which he took from Adam into a woman: and brought her to Adam. 23 And Adam said: This now is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man. 24 Wherefore a man shall leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be two in one flesh. 25 And they were both naked: to wit, Adam and his wife: and were not ashamed. -Genesis 2
Beside the deep sleep wich can be paralleled with Jesus’s death, It just hit me that Adam being introduced to the animal after the garden of pleasure is very parallel to Jesus being taken to the desert after his baptism. Does this make sens?
An other parallel is the ‘bride’ issue. After the deep sleep Adam is introduced to his bride, and after his death, Jesus is introduced to his bride according to revelation.
I seem to see so many parallel but I would like to align them in a way that make sens. As I have said it before, it seems to me that it is here that (even though the word Sin is not mentioned) Adam fall is first indicated.
If the deep sleep indicates the death God was talking about when he told Adam not to eat of the tree, then this means that Adam had just sinned when God put him into the deep sleep. So what is the sin? I am wondering if it is not the fact that Adam took on himself to name all the animals or something around that area. I mean. Does this ring a bell if we compare to the Devil proposing to Jesus to use his power somehow outside God? to turn rocks into bread because he could do so, to jump over the high mountain because angels would catch him, etc…?
Jesus was tempted by hunger and lonelyness. Adam too, it is said that he was lonely…
Jesus was taken to the desert by the God (the Holy Spirit), Adam too was taken to the tree and the animals by God.
What seem to be harder to understand is the time between Jesus temptation into the desert and Jesus temptation at the Garden of Gasthemani. Yet, interesting enough the Church brough them together. We go straight from Lent to Good Thursday…to Easter.
And other thing I just noticed as I am writting this is that Lent start with Ash Wednesday which remind us of creation of Adam from dust.
Now I feel like I have just made a great discovery

But if the Church could make the Lent season so much in parallel with Genesis 2. They must be an an explanation. Does anyone now any referance or reading about this. My original subject was 'Genesis 2:16-25, but as I write all these things came clear to me and I changed it.
Good stuff to meditate on during Lent. Any contribution would be greatly apreciated.
Thanks and God bless
