‘But the serpent said to the woman, You will not die.’ - Gen 3:4
‘therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.’ - Gen 3:23
In the 20th century, a stone seal was discovered in the Tepe Gawra Mound archaeological site, near ancient Nineveh (present-day Iraq). It has been dated about 3500 BC. Here is a picture (with sketch in the upper left corner.

The depiction is of a naked man and woman, apparently bent in sorrow and with a serpent behind them. Very suggestive of the Adam and Eve story.
 
Interesting! My question now is “How does it relate to Nineveh”. I know there are some archeologist who felt the Garden of Eden was around the land of Sumeria. This artifact leads me to believe that the people of this area (Sumeria) were acquainted with Pre-Abrahamic history (being the artifact was dated to be from 3500 BC).

I have been very interested in this era. Genesis doesn’t give much info of this time period so I’ve been looking at Sumerian, Akkadian, & Babylonian history and religious beliefs (and there is plenty of info there to read). I believe Genesis has some historical fact in it but it just touches upon certain historical events. The history of these other nations sheds light on early man and Genesis picks up with God calling Abrahm out of Ur (part of Sumeria). And from that comes God’s people - the Israelites.
 
It would be hard to determine a timeline in Bible history. My guess is the time of Nimrod and the Tower of Bible, but it is just a guess. Definitely pre-Abraham.
