I suppose God could have taken him. But for what purpose?
The human bodies purpose is to make the mystery of God visible. I think that Enoch’s earthly end was made visible to reveal how God intended our earthly lives to end.

But the Bible doesn’t specifically say that about Enoch or why God took him.

Unless the church has an official position on this, I guess it’s just all up to speculation. I don’t think the Word says anything definite about it one way or another.

Do pre-trib rapturists believe the elect will “disappear” like when they use the verse about one man in a field no longer there? Or will they be “taken up” in an episode of the body going up to heaven?

It does specifically mention that Enoch did not experience death as mentioned in a previous post. That being the first death of the seperation of body and soul.

Enoch’s lifespan is unique compared to his forefathers and decendents. 365 years is significant as the number of days in a year. Enoch is the seventh generation of man renewed in the image of God through Seth.

These are compelling symbolic cues that point to Enoch as a sign of the fulfillment of salvation.

Just as a side note; I think it likely that it is the suffering brought by the final tribulation that makes purgatory and the beatification of the body visible. This would be a powerfull witness that could convert the most hardened of those destined to be saved.

What do you think his demeaner will be like?

Again, check out the book of Enoch that mentioned in post #36. You might be helped by this. Jude quoted from it and other NT writings reference it.

Both. The dead in Christ rise first then those who remain rise up to meet Christ, then he takes us to his Fathers house of many mansions, just like he promised his bride.

1Corinthians 15:50-55
I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
"Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?"

Both.

The final judgment

I’ve never heard any rapture-proponents claiming that there was/is/will be more than one rapture.

That being the case… if Enoch WAS raptured…

Guess what? You missed it.

I think the transfiguration of Jesus offers clues. It’s interesting that in the light of Christ’s transfiguration that the apostles could see Moses and Elisha. Even more so that they could know by name men they had never seen before.

The demeanor of Moses and Elisha is casual in the presence of Transfigured Christ. In contrast the apostles were in a state of confusion.

I think that like Moses and Elisha, Enoch would have a likeness to the transfigured Jesus and would be able to enjoy a casual conversation with Jesus like brother to brother.

Just be patient, someone will soon post a “LOL” for ya.

But which group is going to be the one who disappears from the field? “Poof” as one protestant once taught me. You are telling me both groups do the “rising” up.

p.s. have you heard John Martignoni’s somewhat famous talk, The Rapture and the Bible, on this? I recommend it.

There are a number of groups who believe in 2, 3, 4 or more raptures as I understand. How can this be? Exhibit A: Sola Scriptura…

2 groups? What are you talking about? 🤷

Heard it. Is that the one where he keeps saying, “see, it says on the last day!, the last day!..”?

Its really sad though(to me), because throughout the whole thing, Israel is never mentioned. With Israels prophetic importance never mentioned, the pre-trib rapture event seems to have so many holes and is easily debunkable. Those that make it their business to debunk the pre-trib rapture care little or don’t believe that Israel has any prophectic importance in Gods plans.
