I’ve started reading Genesis as part of my study of the Law. I remember that Saint Pius XII, in Humanae Generis; said that the first 11 chapters of Genesis is to be taken symbolically, not literally. I got that. However: What about the rest of Genesis? From what I’ve read so far, it reads like a saga of Jewish prehistory; possibly explaining what the Patriarchal world was like and explained what Jewish customs were before receiving the Torah at Mount Sinai.
I’m wondering if I’m getting the right idea or am I off track?
