Hello everyone,

I know my last post was taken as controversial and I didn’t intend it to be that way, I am sorry if people got the wrong end of the stick about me or the post- anyway I have truly a genuine question.

Next Wednesday I am going to Medjugorje for 8 days, I am going because a friend of mine who is very into it invited me to go with her- she has been a number of times, I have never been there and a kind friend of mine from the parish has paid for my trip. I booked the Pilgrimage through my friend and I am looking forward to going there and to Croatia and Bosnia. I am going there with an open mind and heart. The local Dean (Priest in charge of all the Parishes in the area) is a supporter and has lead several Pilgrimages, my own Parish Priest has advertised this trip.

I just genuinely want to know what people think about it? I would mainly like to hear from people who have been. I know it is not officially recognised and the Vatican is still investigating, and that many clerics and Cardinals have urged people not to go there- remember that this also happened at Fatima, people were told not to go there during the apparitions yet they went in their thousands and look what happened. Has anyone on here been there and had a dramatic experience or a conversion? It has been called the largest Confessional on earth and it is said thousands of people have been reconciled there, I am making no statement about visions or anything- I am honestly asking. I am inclined to say I do believe it, but I will know for sure when I experience it. I don’t believe that all those conversions and Confessions can come from something bad or evil.

I am just genuinely asking for peoples advice, opinions and experiences on it?

Again.

The Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith has directed that bishops be advised that
Code:
“clerics and the faithful are not permitted to participate in meetings, conferences or public celebrations during which the credibility of such ‘apparitions’ would be taken for granted.”
Michael Francis:
As such Medjugorje remains a banned topic here at CAF.

Oh I didn’t know it was banned? I thank you for this again- I was wondering if anyone with personal experiences would have anything to offer though. Why is it banned though? I mean people talk about far worse and more controversial things- but I respect rules and regulations.
This topic is a banned topic.

Yes, unapproved apparitions are banned. Until and unless an apparition is studied and approved by the Church, it might be either man-made or supernatural. If it is supernatural, it can be from either heaven, or from hell. I recall that the evil one does not lead us astray with complete and total evil. Rather, he is the most subtle of creatures, and he leads astray with subtleties. As such, I completely avoid all alleged apparitions.

I await the decision of the Church. At present the local Bishops oppose public promotion of the purported apparitions which continue incessantly with little seeming value except to the coffers of those seers and their supporters who have made a living from their involvement whilst living lives that would surprise many who might have had the honour of meeting our Blessed Mother.
I therefore obey the local Bishops in their judgement and would have nothing to do with it.

I’m sorry but it is not the same as Fatima. You really need to look into what has been going on with Medj. We are not the judge about such matters. The Church is cautious and will not lead us astray. Going there expecting something supernatural to be going on ,has been forbidden by the Vatican. God Bless, memaw

A miracle can be 95% good but that extra 5% can be fatal. Think of the cults like Jonestown. Jim Jones did not gain those followers by outright evil; it was under the surface. I’m glad that the Church investigates miracles with great skepticism and I fear for those who are taken in by all of the “amazing stories”. Give me a good “devil’s advocate” over a charismatic miracle maker any day.

I am very much in love with our miracle stories, the ones that have withstood a thorough investigation. My faith does not depend on them but I know that they can deepen our faith.

Hmmm…it has not been approved, yet not banned from going to my knowledge. Until banned I would say what you are doing is ok it seems? I will pray that you have the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I have no experiences with this however. Blessings,
mlz

Per “Rules of the Road” Banned Topics List #25:
Promoting unapproved apparitions and revelations (those not approved by the Church for private or public devotion) or alleged private locutions.

As of this date Medjugorje has not been approved by the Vatican. The Vatican’s commission completed the investigation and submitted its findings to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith on January 20, 2014. There has been no further news from the Vatican beyond that so the topic remains banned here on the forums.
