Personally, it is sad. As a son of Notre Dame, I will attest that the university is not pro-choice. It is actually very pro-life. See attached links. However, I do know that (sadly) Georgetown did get in trouble with Church authorities for human embryonic research. Scary…and I know that Georgetown (although it does have a strong pro-life club) does not send many to the march and it is only a few miles away. Thankfully, Notre Dame sent over 400 this year including the president.
I want people to realize that the Church NEEDS Georgetown! As well as Notre Dame, BC, and others. Although I truly believe that Notre Dame is much more “Catholic” in practice and spirituality than most Catholic universities are, we still need them all. And, we cannot give up on fine institutions such as G’town, BC, 'Nova, Dayton, Xavier, Loyolas etc… THEY ARE NEEDED TO FIGHT THE SECULAR FIGHT! Ave Maria, Stubenville, and Christendom are just not going to cut it…too small, little or no endowment, and absolutely no research. I’m sorry but we have to face reality. These small schools are great and are needed but we need the larger, more powerful Catholic universities to help humanity (especially G’town and SLU due to their medical programs!). But, rest assured knowing that Georgetown absolutely NO LONGER has any research connected to human embryos…just like Notre Dame…only adult stem cells are now used. THANK GOD!!! Pray for them all.
