The right of a child to live exceeds your right to not be offended!
I think everyone agrees with that. theres just the small matter of determining when a lump of cells becomes a ‘child’.

I wonder how this story would have been different if the picture on the side of the truck was, say, a photo of two men, both stripped to the waist, engaged in a passionate kiss with each other?

And the fact that almost EVERYONE who views the ‘lump of cells’ finds it horrific and offensive is crucial to informing people of reality.

Those pictures prove the child isn’t a lump of cells more than you or I are. Those pictures show hands, feet, arms and legs. they show the truth, and most people don’t want to face it. It’s hard to face that this goes on each and every day, that our government gives money for this to be done. When we see it we have to ask ourselves are we doing all that we can to end it? Could we do more? That makes people uncomofortable. It’s easier to complain about pictures being too graphic than to actively work to end abortion!

Not from a scientific standpoint there isnt. Seperate, distinct human life is present from the moment of conception on. Everything beyond that is merely a game of semantics played by for those who think killing children is ok.

BTW-the reason these pictures are so effective is that way to many people have bought into the myth that we are talking about a “clump of cells”.

yuck. i’d rather have my daughter witness the mutilated child. yeah call me biased but even though i’m tolerant of homosexual acts, im just not ready seeing it in public.

i personally agree with you. unfortunately others wont agree with us.
They are wrong. You can’t stop doing something that is right because people who think it is wrong don’t agee. Just as you can’t do something that is wrong just because people think it’s ok.
To quote Fulton Sheen “Wrong is wrong even when everybody is wrong and right is right even when nobody is right”

Perhaps you could then point us to the myriad examples of Catholic churches and schools who use this particular method (displaying gory billboard sized photos of dismembered and decapitated babies to children under 7 without their parents’ permission) in their preschool and kindergarten curricula?
Makes not much sense to specifically target this segment of the population. The intended audience is the general public, to which it would be much more beneficial to the desired cause. Whether or not schools currently show children photos or not has no bearing on the morality of the topic.

Curious as to why you would even care if a child is exposed to a photo of a lump of cells. Should be pretty well neutral then, shouldn’t it?

like i said, for me that is as obscene as showing the picture of a bloody sliced penis (another lump of cells) to kids. can you connect the dots?

Not even close. If you think it is same thing you have issues.

So your rights come before others?

Yes, it is entirely up to you how and when you teach your kids sex education. Off topic.
When it comes to what my children are forcibly exposed too, of course. My right to to protect them comes before some one else’s right to parade it in front of them. And if you think that the sex education issue is off topic, then perhaps you can explain why the ananlogy fails. I do not put my rights first, I am merely stating that this man’s rights are not unlimited. They end where the rights of others begin.

I suppose creative heads can come up with some pretty wild mind contorsions.

The right and need of the public (including your children) to be educated and informed of the horrors and truth of legal abortion- that is going on in your neighborhood and across the country -outweighs the desire of you not to have to explain it to your child.

The difference is that profanity isn’t used to end evil or promote a good.
The end is what justifies it? This issue is not abortion, but rather this action was wrong. If it was wrong, then the end is irrelevant, in accord with Catholic moral teaching.

What if the same tactics were used to promote anti-Catholicism? Let us say the truck had bodies burnt to a crisp, decapitations and bodies flayed open by bullets. This same truck drove around the Mall at peak crowds claiming the these were victims of Catholic atrocity and Catholicism must be surpressed. Everyone here cool with this?

You just expalined why the parallel applies. Because one group (Planned Parenthood or Anti-abortion activists) decides the need for this type of education is so important, no one should have the freedom to avoid it. It should be forced upon children.

Does Catholicism need to be opressed? Does abortion need to be stopped? Do people need to be educated about the horror of abortion?

This isn’t the ssame thing. It is a relativistic approach you are taking and it is incorrect.

Again not the same thing

I would be if it were true, had been covered up and were still ongoing in a world where people didn’t want to hear about it. YES!
