What more can you say but, “Wow”.

I wonder if insurance companies will take that into account?

From article
All other driving requirements will still have to be met by young Georgians, but the final road test conducted by an instructor (who sweats like crazy, cranks up the A/C, and points all the fans at himself…at least when I took it) will be chopped.
Agree that they should not do this. Kids are not getting the virus, space as best you can. It may be to protect the examiner.

Forcing people to work in deadly conditions, and handing people keys and just saying, go.
Welcome to the new world called,“The Roller Derby of America.”
I think it pretty clear that Insurance( including having it) is not a concern.

One thing Georgia did not release (I didn’t see it) is how many people they fail every year in the on-the-road test.

Watch you tube. One of those accidents with old people taking out people standing at a street light.

My son got his license this year. The other requirements were the written test, and take 10 hours of driving lessons, and a safety course.

None of these show the ability to safely operate a car.

New procedure. You hand out the licence, and if someone ends up crippled or dead, you consider suspension.
The Governor deems that," innovation."

Freedom baby! Don’t curtail the liberty of incompetence with a dangerous instrumentality. That’s un-American.

I understand that but the written test teaches them the rules of the road.

The 10 hours of driving lessons can be done by parents depending on the state I guess.

The safety course use to be given in some high school. To me it makes no sense to put young drivers on the road without all these things. That age bracket has a high death rate because of the amount of cars on the road and speed, distractions by friends.

I don’t agree. Passing the written test isn’t the same as proving you can drive.
The road test doesn’t really “prove you can drive”. It proves you can pass a road test with an instructor.

You only learn actual driving skills by driving a lot and doing certain things, like parallel parking, over and over in the car you will actually be driving regularly.

In Virginia, where I am, you take classroom instruction and then “on the road”. Classroom is done at high school as a half year section of health class. You pay for on the road through the school system or a private driving school. The on the road instructor certifies the road test as part of the class. So, they see driving ability over several days. Part of the road test is to get on the Washington Beltway (I-495) and drive a few exits.

Information accurate as of maybe seven years ago.

I think this is a bad idea.

When I got my license in Georgia I did the test on a course with cones. Years later they required actually driving on a road.

Personally I think it would be better to just suspend handing out new licenses for now. I talked to friends with kids. This is motivating them to get their licenses now.

I just thought - if the parents are willing to put the kids on their insurance… Maybe that’s the biggest test?
