Interesting. It starts to sound as if Cardinal Marx’s decision not to seek re-election to the presidency of the German bishops’ conference is part of a pattern
 
Yes a pattern certainly, however there are rumours that the Pope wants Marx at the Vatican to handle some financial aspects (I kid you not!) and these two might be thought to be able to work in tandem again.
 
I would trust Cardinal Marx more with money than with doctrine.
 
Yeah there are rumors and speculation that Cardinal Marx may get Cardinal Pell’s old job. I don’t think these resignations are a sign of the progressives giving up power in Germany; if anything they’re going to be gaining even more influence in the greater Church.
