AP: BERLIN German theologian Hans Kueng is urging bishops to disobey the pope and push for reforms in the Roman Catholic Church.

The 82-year-old former colleague and friend of Pope Benedict XVI says the church is in its deepest crisis since the Protestant Reformation after recent revelations of sexual abuse by clergy and the ensuing erosion of trust. He says it is legitimate for bishops to pressure Roman authorities if the pope blocks their efforts. The bishops should not be “actors without voice or rights.”…

Hans Kung is plank-in-his-own-eye sort of character. He is partly to blame for the “crisis” with his liberal theology and schismatic thoughts.
 
I always like it when Hans Küng takes a position on an issue. Makes it simple. All I have to do is take the opposite position and I know I’m in line with the Church!! 😃

You have to feel sorry for the poor beggar, though.
Theres his former colleague: one of the greatest reformer popes the Church has ever had. Theres himself: an aged derelict apostate whose life`s work is worse than worthless… except to show future generations what not to do.

It reminds me of the difference between Saint Peter amd Judas.
 
A thoroughly discredited theologian,who had his teaching credentials stripped away long ago,whom I believe may even have been excommunicated trying to remain relevant.Quite the "authority"for the media to consult.:rolleyes:
 
So much for that ‘not criticizing priests’ sentiment, eh? Far as I know, Kung remains a priest in good standing. He lost his credentials to teach Catholic theology but he was not excommunicated.

To admonish the sinner; and
To instruct the ignorant.

Hans Kung certainly would fall in under one or the other. However the fact that he is a Priest in good standing when Lefebvre gets excommunicated is a scandal. Oh and before you jump all over me for that, I am not, nor would ever be, a member of the SSPX. I am a person who believes in equal treatment!!
 
Hey, I don’t think priests are above criticism. In fact, I doubt anyone is against criticism of all priests–just the ones they like!

I wish that you would be more consistant.You post one thing then you contradict yourself in another post.This is not the first time and this curiousity has been pointed out by other posters.
If you are intimating that not criticising priests is my policy,you should pay attention.
