Would this apply to priests as well–many of whom move about town in ordinary street clothes?
It is my understanding that the move away from mandatory habits was not a meaningless cave to feminism/secularism, but an effort to have the nuns seen as an integral part of the communities they served as opposed to separate and distinct from them. I see no issue in allowing a man or woman, who has sacramentally dedicated their entire life and energy to serving God and the Catholic community, the discretion to select the attire they deem appropriate to wear in public to fulfill those duties.
