Getting a Baptismal Certificate from a Baptist Church

I doubt they’ll give you a hard time. My former Baptist church sent me my baptismal certificate promptly, with a note that said they hoped I was joining a Bible-based church. That was about it.

You should’ve written back and said ‘absolutely - based on ALL the books of the Bible, incluing the 6 you guys don’t accept’ 😃
 
DH sort of had that issue when we were going through the marriage paperwork.

Something about Baptism “only being an outward sign” or something. Still don’t understand!!!
 
My new husband had an emergency baptism performed when he was born (by a priest in the back of a pharmacy). Because of the unusual situation involved, there was no documentation of it.

Before we were married this May, our priest told my husband that because of the lack of documentation, he would only need to provide a letter from someone who was there and remembered the event. Thankfully, my brother in law was there to witness the baptism (he is 16 years older then my husband).
 
When my husband converted, we were able to use the notation his mother made in the family Bible.

She didn’t ask why, at least not on my voice mail. I will tell her if she asks. There’s a few people who attend the church that I wonder if I would start getting Chick tracts or something if they found out, but otherwise I think the majority of them would be courteous and willing to help.

And if they don’t, I can think of at least three people who would sign a statement, no problem. My parents know and my friend was baptized at the same time.

So here’s a question… what if you don’t have a baptismal certificate and were not conditionally baptized? Is your confirmation still valid?

I converted from a denomination that doesn’t issue baptismal certificates but practiced “believer’s baptism.” I was about 13 when I was baptised so I was able to write a statement detailing what I remembered and then my mother also wrote a statement as a witness and that was accepted in lieu of a baptismal certificate.
