Getting a Broken Rosary Blessed Again Once It's Fixed?

A friend asked me to repair his rosary that is made out of beads and twine. The twine broke and since it wasn’t possible for him to just tie another knot, he asked me to fix it for him. I have to take all of the beads off and restring it with new twine. He had the rosary blessed when it was given to him. I was wondering if a rosary retains the blessing when it is broken beyond repair. If it’s broken and is reduced to just a pile of beads with a crucifix and rosary centerpiece, is the blessing still there? If I’m correct, the blessing is on the rosary itself, not the individual heads. So if the rosary is broken, then there’s no blessing, right? When I make a rosary for someone, I like to have it blessed when I give it to them since I know how hard it can be to get a hold of the priest after Mass sometimes which is why I ask. The classical rubric was that if more than half of the blessed item remains, the item did not need to be blessed again.

If a rosary broke apart and the parts were all retrieved and put back together, no blessing was needed. If a five decade rosary’s repair required, for example, the addition of three decades of beads to replace what was lost, the rosary should be blessed anew.

If you have the crucifix, centerpiece and beads, which are being simply restrung, it would not be necessary to have the rosary blessed again…though one certainly may have it blessed again.
