An ordinary blessing does not cover Brown Scapulars.

This is the great privilege of the Brown Scapular; whoever dies with it will receive sufficient graces for his salvation. The scapular is not a good-luck charm. Only the faithful servant of Mary who wears her badge with devotion, confiding in her intercession, will receive the grace of final perseverance. The Brown Scapular consists of two segments of brown wool-cloth. One first scapular received must be blessed by a priest. The ceremony can be performed any time during the year.
Lord Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, sanctify+

by Thy servant in love and devotion to Thee and to Thy
blessed Mother, Our Lady of Mount Carmel. By her
intercession may he be defended from the evil foe
