I am at a time in my life when I want to start over and get closer to God. I am reading a book called Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, and it is inspring me to find that peace with God and myself.

I am a junior at Texas Woman’s University, and would like to find some new opportunities to do things I enjoy.
Other than keeping myself busy with my classes, I hope to volunteer more and work at a children’s center.

I feel like God really wants me to focus on my dreams right now rather than dwell on my failed relationship that some of you may have read about in other posts.

How should I find others who share the same faith that I have? How do I go about meeting new friends who will support me?
How do I find that peace with God?

Thank you all for your help 🙂
I appreciate it.

God Bless,
Roxanna

Roxanne, I’m delighted to see that you are working towards healing and flourishing.
You’re seeking Him so you’ll find Him. He will see to that. In any case, in volunteer work at the children’s centre you are serving Jesus in His little ones, so you’re close to Him there. [Matthew 2, verses 31-40]

Regarding good friends, is there a chapel and there Masses available sometimes at the University, where you might meet fellow Catholics? Or study groups that might suit you?
Is it worth consulting a counsellor at the University?
I ask the Lord to lead you to good friends.

You’ll remain in my prayers
Regards, Trishie

Trishie,
There is a chapel on campus that is available every day. There is Mass on Sunday nights at 8. I had not gone previously because my now ex-boyfriend and I always spent time together then. I am going to Mass and prayer groups every chance I get.

Thank you for your support and prayers.

If souls would put themselves completely in My care, I Myself would undertake the task of sanctifying them, and I would lavish even greater graces on them. There are souls who thwart My efforts, but I have not given up on them; as often as they turn to Me, I hurry to their aid, shielding them with My mercy, and I give them the first place in My compassionate Heart. (Our Lord to Saint Faustina in “Divine Mercy In My Soul”, 1682)

I recommend frequent Communion if you wish to augument your union with Jesus Christ. The more we united ourselves to God now, the more will we be united to Him in Heaven. Everyone in Heaven has God, but not all are as closely united to Him, yet everyone in Heaven is happy in the degree which they are united to God, for they know that they have reaped what they sowed, and they know that God suffices, and they know that God is infinitely merciful, more gracious and benevolent to us than we can ever possibly imagine.

I am the same way you are right now. I need to focus on growing closer to God and getting my Automotive career off the ground.

I don’t want to give into any of my feelings right now. I am waiting for God to intervene. However, I keep getting feelings to call my ex just to try to keep things friendly. I know that it is not the right thing to do right now.

Please everyone, keep me in your prayers that I will stay on God’s path.

Thank you,
Roxanna
