My husband and I have been married for 26 years, we are both Catholics and are finally taking the sacrament of marriage in our church in a couple of weeks. For the last 3 yrs my husband had an affair and it all hit the fan in Aug when he ended it with her and she began her emotion assault on me. I have been devastated and struggling to get through each day. I’ve been dealing with a major depression disorder over this the whole time because I was aware of it, he would deny and learned how to hide it better. Since it has ended he had been very remorseful and working at repairing the marriage. He has been to confession, we have been in therapy and received help from our priest. Things are better to a degree; I am still having panic attacks and now with the convalidation scheduled I am beginning to question if I’m ready to take this step. I’m afraid after it all settles down he will cheat again and I can’t go through that hell again. He assures me it will never happen again and that the convalidation is proof of his devotion to our marriage. I’m scared and I don’t know if I can or should believe him. This is a huge step and I don’t want to do the wrong thing.
