Hello all,

A very good friend of mine was just sent home from the hospital in renal failure and on hospice. He is a retired Anglican Priest that I know from the American Legion. While I am Roman Catholic it was Bob who brought me back to the Church and closer to God through his service, teachings, and counsel. In a way I will miss him but I know that he is going home. My question is this - the funeral will obviously be a very large one at the Anglican church. I know that I will not be taking Eucharist there (or atleast I am pretty sure of this). Is there anything else I should or shouldn’t do while attending a funeral mass at an Anglican Catholic Church.

Thank you and God Bless,

No, you should not receive communion in the Anglican church. Just pray for the repose of his soul, and thank God for the positive influence he has had in your life.

Have Masses said for him in your own parish or by a Catholic religious order of priests.

May God console you in the loss you must be feeling.

All you have to do is refrain from communion. You can certainly attend the funeral and pray for the repose of his soul.

Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. :signofcross: :gopray:
