Getting rid of Evil Spirits

Hi everyone,

It’s been a long time since I posted on here but recently I’ve been struggling with what I think is the work of the Devil.

I’ve been having really bad episodes at night time, including nightmares, night “terrors” and visions of people in my room.

Although I do have a diagnosis of a personality disorder this sort of thing is not part of it, at least that’s what I’ve been told.

I bought a book by Neal Lonanzo called “Resisting the Devil” and it was a really interesting read.

Anyway, I’ve tried burning sage and tried asking God for help through prayer but the episodes continue.

Can anyone help?

Stop burning sage.

There’s abook called Spiritual Warfare by Paul Thigpen; I have not read it, bit it might be helpful and you can probably find some info about it before buying it.

Also, Fr Chad Ripperger has videos on Youtube which go into these types of issues. Very well wrorth listening. I can’t link you to the right one directly, and I had a different source which seems to be inavailable now.

If I find or remember something more helpful, I’ll post it here.
 
Here are some things you can try:

Attend Mass at least every Sunday and (if not conscious of moral sin) devoutly receive the Lord in Holy Communion.

Regularly go to Confession even if you are only aware of venial sins.

Pray in some way every day.

Ask for Our Lady’s intercession with Our Lord. Her intercession is very powerful against attacks by the evil spirits.

Here are some sacramental you might find helpful:

Pray the rosary (or at least one decade of it) every day.

Sprinkle your room with holy water. (You can get it either “self serve” in the church building or from the rectory. Bring your own bottle.)

Ask for the help of your guardian angel.

Here is a pray you might find helpful addressed to the Archangel Michael:

defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,

Wear or carry about yourself the Saint Benedict medal. His intercession is helpful over evil spirits. Here is an excellent explanation of the medal:

  1. Stop burning sage. That is a Native American pagan belief that will only invite evil into your home. If you must burn something, try frankincense.
  2. Get some holy water from your local parish and bless your home with it. St Teresa of Avila said that the demons always flee from holy water and will not return.
  3. Pray the Rosary everyday. It is a powerful weapon against the evil one.
  4. Start wearing the Brown Scapular and have your priest invest you in it.
  5. Make frequent confessions, attend Mass and receive the Eucharist as often as possible (provided you’re in a state of grace)
  6. If possible, have your priest bless a container of salt for you to sprinkle by all doorways.

Pray the Rosary. Mary has the power over satan/demons. Since I started praying the Rosary every day (full Rosary), I have not had one night terror. In addition, the daily harassment by demons has ceased as well. If you like, you can start with the 54-day Rosary Novena. That is how I started when I was at my lowest point.
 
Everyone has given you good advice. I just want to reinforce the Rosary, St. Michael Prayer, and Holy Water. I think that’s the triple whammy against things that torment us. The Divine Mercy chaplet is also very powerful.
