Getting rid of kneelers

I do not claim that everything is of equal importance to God. But I do claim that God cares about everything in our lives, down to the smallest detail of what we do. To say otherwise is to deny something about His nature: omnipotence, perfectly good, perfectly loving, etc. So you just can’t say things like He doesn’t care if we decide to kneel or not when we pray. He cares about everything we do. Now, there may be times where kneeling is more important to Him than others. Perhaps it is not important to Him if we kneel or not, but our decision as to why we kneel or not is important to Him. I don’t know, I cannot read the mind of God. But I know he does care. If I decide to get up and drink a glass of water right now, He knows, and He pays attention.

An orthopaedic surgeon I read about was Catholic himself and said jokingly (although knee replacements are a serious issue of course and he wasn’t downplaying that) Catholics are his best “customers” because of the amount of time they have spent kneeling in their years here on Earth.

yes, I would have been one of those if I hadn’t found my way east.

Mere weeks for the knee pain to go away . . . (and then I went to three Roman Masses in three days, and was sure feeling it . . .)

I don’t think my parish will be getting rid of kneelers but they can be quite noisy when everybody moves them to kneel. Personally, I have a knee injury that takes months to heal so I need the kneeler and others with knee problems probably need them too or they just sit down.

The church here has carpet. The same carpet it had since 1979. Finally getting replaced this year, but carpet isn’t that non-durable. I think the original color was orange…

It also has kneelers and a congregation of varying ages. I haven’t seen anybody face-plant from them.

Ended up in the back of the church today due to crowding. Kneeling is not very comfortable on bare (well, almost-bare; hose doesn’t do much) carpet.

Thankfully, it isn’t happening at my parish, but there is one parish in particular that I know of which doesn’t have kneelers.

With regards to the reason they gave you: I suppose, then, that the pews would be a tripping hazard as well? If that’s the case, why don’t you take them out? It would be just like in the really old days!

You should tell them that.

Kneeling on a hard floor isn’t for anyone, to be honest. We’re not designed to do that.
