So… I’m at my partner’s parent’s house.
During the lockdown in my country.
Well, his mother told us there is this “ghost cat” in her bedroom. Now I have experience this “ghost cat” myself about 11 years ago. I was at the time sleeping in the morning in my partner’s bedroom. This was before it was his mum’s bedroom. Anyway it literally felt like a cat sat beside me and curled up. My eyes were close but I was awake when experiencing this. I opened my eyes and none thing was there. I told my partner he said how there this ghost cat around in the house. How it only seems to come and goes and stays during winter.

Now back to the present. Just last night his mum couldnt sleep because her cat not the ghost cat. Her real life cat, couldnt sleep. How it was walking up and down the hall way meowing. It refused to sleep with her in bed. How she felt the cat ghost come on to her bed too and felt it walking and then sits down and curls up. She mention been happening ever since she moved in the bedroom and the cat never reacts to it, until last night.

Personally I am suspicious if it’s a ‘cat ghost’ not some demon pretending to be a cat. Not sure.

I dont really know what to do about it.
So I was wondering spiritual in pray what do I do?
I know it’s not wise to provoke a spirit or talk to it. Which I’m not planning to do.

What’s your advice?

Anytime I sense something that doesn’t seem quite natural, I say “St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle!”

Leave it be, the house you are staying in belongs to your partners parents. Best to leave alone and ask Our Lord for help and saying the St Michael the Archangel prayer for spiritual protection.

Catholic teaching indicates that animals have “material” souls, which die when their bodies die, so it cannot be a “cat ghost”.

My family has strongly experienced similar things with cats we used to have, some quite astonishing. What we do is give thanks that the pets we loved still wish to connect with us and show up at opportune times. There is no doubt in our minds that the energy which had been our beloved animals responded and continues to respond to the love we felt for them. In your own case, what was felt was a similar thing. I always just say, “thanks for remembering us”.

This. Since “cat ghosts” aren’t theologically possible, that’d be the outcome…

The first thing that I’ve always done is to pray about the experiences, to make sure that they’re not anything malicious.

I’ve seen too many of my past kitties, to think otherwise now.

They tend to do the same things that they did when alive.

Well it is not really ghost of cat it is evil spirit manifesting in shape of cat.

@Zandy Call a priest when you can to bless the house and pray inside. It is also good to have Mass said in places like that if possible and if you know something bad and/or occult happened inside. Also pray to st. Michael and Raphael Archangels, invoke Most Precious Blood of Jesus to protect you.

I’ve had Mass said in my old house because of former occultism done inside which manifested in many shapes for years later.

If it is imagination there is nothing to worry about.

If it is a ghost cat there is nothing to worry about since a ghost cat will cause no harm except possibly to ghost mice.

If it is something evil pretending to be a cat it is nothing to worry about since, as I understand it, spirits have no earthly form and must therefore be everywhere all the time anyway and besides, if it is just pretending to be a ghost cat, what harm could be done?

Am I right in thinking cats are not mentioned in the Bible?

I can’t imagine a future life anywhere that doesn’t include animals. If we have a world that looks like this one, wouldn’t there be birds singing and bunnies hopping across the grass?

I know that a couple of different priests have said that in heaven there is perfect happiness, and if you require something special for perfect happiness, you will have it. I am counting on that. I require my beloved pets, and I don’t see why my having them would be beyond God’s capabilities.

Large cats are mentioned, but by species names (lion, leopard), not as generic “cats”. House cats are not mentioned, which I find odd, given that dogs are mentioned several times.

Your are right, nothing is beyond God’s abilities. Even if one cannot for theological reasons believe that animals also exist in the afterlife, surely they can accept that God could create an identical replica, right down to the mind, personality and memories, that would live forever with us. 🙂

Here’s something that happens regularly at home- one of our current cats will suddenly stop what they are doing and appear to watch something we can’t see move from one end of the room to the other, or sometimes seem to be watching something unseen climb the staircase or a book shelf. At such times I just say hello to the visiting “cat ghost” and tell them to drop in anytime.

Baruch 6:22 mentions “cats”: “Bats, swallows, and birds light on their [idols’] bodies and heads; and so do cats.”

My honest advice is “forget it.” Sometimes cats do weird stuff. “It’s interacting with a ghost cat” is not the explanation you should jump to. This is probably all in your head/the power of suggestion.
