Are you saying that Ghost Hunters isn’t a good show sure the TAPS team has had its share of problems with members and family members my team and I want to be a TAPS Family Member ourselves one day so to say that Ghost Hunters Isn’t a good show you are mistaken I happen to enjoy learning what I know about the paranormal from the actual paranormal investigators who deal with it everyday of their lives.
I say that Ghost Hunters Is a show that shouldn’t be judged unfairly.
Think about it.
A Ghost Hunter and a Fan,

I have felt and seen things since I was a small girl. My first experience was when I was about 8. My parents left me with my grandparents, they went to a party. I was asleep, this is according to my grandparents and parents…and i woke up crying and yelling to take someone out of the street he was going to get runned over. I must have looked like a night terror and they just chalked it up to a bad dream. A few days later across the way from us, we lived in front of a creek, a kid was playing and a big van turned the corner fast and hit him. He died, the boy. So many things have happend to me this would turn into a long post. My husband says I have a “gift” but I can honestly tell you I DONT WANT IT! I predicted the death of my best friend…but I didnt know it was her, I thought it was me. I told my husband, then boyfriend, that I was going to die and I wasn’t going to see the age 24. I told him I didnt know how or why but something that had to do with my head…I said it almost felt like a gun shot. 2 months after turning 23 my best friends brain swelled up and she passed away. I dont know if thats what she felt, but they never were able to tell why her brain swelled.

After she passed my husband was sent to Korea and I fell into a great depression. She helped me out…I dreamt about her, like as if she was still here. We would drink coffee, eat at our fav restaurant in my dream…but SHE helped me get out of my drepression.

I predicted my grandfathers passing. didnt know it was him, I thought it was my father or my fil. I told my husband one day, while driving, cause it just hits me really bad and hard and I feel sick…that someone was going to die of a massive heart attack. He said…who, I said IDK…someone who is older than us. He said your grandpa…I said…No hes never had heart problems. A few months later my grandfather died of a massive heart attack. He visted me later telling me he didnt want to come back. He said he was happy where he was. I said “Grandpa no one is telling you to come back, if your happy here then stay here dont worry about us.” The next day I visisted my mom after mass and she had just hung up with my aunt, her sister, and apparently my aunt was so distraught over my grandfathers passing that she was praying rosaries, begging GOD for one more day with her dad. I GOT UPSET AND LIVID!!! I told her my dream and she cried and I told her he was fine and happy and not to cry for him anymore. Later I scolded my aunt. They dont get the dreams…I DO! Its not good to be the middle person.

The most recent thing thats happened to me, but I will end it here. This does exist…most of it I believe is our Angles helping us out, but we are so cynical that we either chalk it up to something else or we just blame it on demons. Trust me if it were a demon, you would feel ugly, sick to your stomach…like when you feel when you know a person is not a good person.
I had premonitions of one my brothers calling me telling me, through a choked voice, that my dad had collapsed and it didn’t look good up for a year, possibly longer. Right up to the morning he did make that call, the same exact brother, voice choking with emotion, only it was our mom not our dad.

The premonitions have stopped now.

Weird stuff happens and sometimes I think God has ways to reach us or prepare us for things coming our way.

My Dad told me once that he was down the street visiting my grandparents (before I was born) and was standing in their front door when he got the feeling that he needed to get home fast because of some danger.

He didn’t even say goodbye, just ran home and found my mom, aunt, and cousin all passed out and gas strong in the house. He threw open the windows and hung them all out, which saved their lives.

When my Dad was dying I was far away and one night I was reading my Bible before going to sleep and read this verse.
1] When David’s time to die drew near, he charged Solomon his son, saying,
2] "I am about to go the way of all the earth. Be strong, and show yourself a man,
3] and keep the charge of the LORD your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn;

I knew right then that my Dad was gone. It was an hour or so later when I got the call and I told my brother, “I know”.

I am a big fan of the show too, and I think Jason, Grant, Steve, etc are very reasonable professional people, not given to histrionics.

I watched a little bit of Ghost Hunters Academy and I got the impression that they don’t want mediums as investigators I suppose because they go in there with a scientific mind.

I just hope all of them pray a lot. 🙂

I read somewhere in the Bible that we should protect ourselves from any form of evil. I sometimes watch ‘Haunting’ and, sorry for the expression, that scares the **** out of me. If you have experiences with spirits, that may tempt you to communicate with them. Of course, there is no commandment that prohibits watching those kinds of shows, but they can be tools of the devil. It is better not to, but there is no commandment to prohibit it. So if your question if whether there is some kind of danger in watching shows like these, then yes, there is. If you wonder whether it is a sin or not, then no, it is not a sin.
www.christiananswersforthenewage.org and read her personal story.

It is entertaining and it can be educational. There are actually a fair few of these shows that have Catholics involved in helping apparently ‘earth bound’ spirits. I’ve had to study this through my own experiences, and yes, I stuck to what we teach for the most part, that is, unless I was ignorant to a certain direction I should take. Prayer is the most powerful thing, so always pray if you experience anything Paranormal, the Rosary is the most powerful over time along with a minor exorcism prayer 'St. Michael the Archangel defend us in the day of battle…" We, as Catholics have all the treasures of the Church to protect us along with the Lord who gave them to us. Many Catholics don’t realise you shouldn’t dabble with many things such as, Hypnosis, Psychics, Ouiji Boards even. Keep away from these, they are ‘doors’ open to the spirit world and you with your ‘free will’ allow another authority to influence you other than the Almighty. My point is, that if you watch these programs carefully it’s almost always only the ‘Catholic’ ways that prevail against the evil/demons, anything else is either temporary or tricky of the enemy. This is the main reason to be careful because the Devil mimics good, pretends to be harmless ghosts, pretends to be Angels and even God himself. Read what St. Pio says about this, there are in fact imposters everywhere and all they want is the ruin of your soul. Man was created to be independant of other men but not idependant of God. Watch, never dabble, and always refer to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. May God bless you and His angels keep you +XP+

I am sure you have seen the large number of shows on TV that’s purpose is to locate and prove the existence of ghosts. Is watching these shows against the Catholic faith?
To me it’s sad that it is seen as entertainment. For most of the ghost hunters it isn’t about entertainment. It’s truly a search into the unknown part of our world - the spirit world - and how that world coincides with ours.

In my opinion, only one show - TAPS - has the right attitude and common sense in their approach. Others simply make me sad to see their show - in fact, I become disgusted at some of them. If the ghosts are real and they are departed human spirits who are not at peace, why simply go in, take measurements and walk away? That’s the tragedy of it all.

That’s something to think about. It shouldn’t be for entertainment. Whether you believe or don’t believe - what does that say about us as human beings that we find entertainment value in simply recording the voices of the dead and finding new ways to capture them?

As far as being against the Catholic faith - I’ll leave that to the Catholics on the board. I would not recommend that you do anything against your religious beliefs.

Peace…

The St Michael prayer and a prayers for these poor souls are good ideas…as I said earlier in this thread, they well could be poor souls in Purgatory, especially the ones that seem like tape rewinds.

Can anyone tell me if St Maximilian Kolbe’s writings about this is in a book form? I’d love to read it.

It’s not really a sin but why watch it? It does no good to our soul and really not a good way to spend your time. I would perfer to read scripture with my free time.😃
I agree! but I really wanted to write to tell you how happy it made me to read your plans after high school. There are not enough young men and women today answering their call. Thanks to God that your heart was open to hear Him. Congradulations! May ALL of God’s abundent blessings be upon you and your family! I will keep you in my prayers!

Um… for me this show wasn’t a good thing. During the period where I was questioning the church I became heavily involved in studying the ‘afterlife’ via ghost hunting, demonology and the like.

This show gave me the idea to try EVP’s. Part of me felt it was wrong, the other part rationalized that it was just a game.

Anyway, we did manage to record something on the EVP. 😦 It’s not something I’m proud of… and I believe very strongly the things we encountered were NOT human spirits.

I feel a bit crazy actually and ever since then have been having issues with the ‘other side’ (I could tell stories but then you all would think I’m crazy too!).

Two weeks ago I came back to God and in doing so I feel I’ve been released from this but yikes! It’s been a scary two-three years.

I’m not blaming the show for what I got into, but I would caution that watching these kind of things CAN desensitive us and dull our innate sense of what’s wrong and what’s right. If you’re constantly in the company of the enemy you stop being able to smell him.

🙂

You would get alot out of Marcia’s experiences that she details on her website…www.christiananswersforthenewage.org and just look for her personal story…sounds like you could relate and God bless.

I don’t really have too much of a problem with it. The Catholic Church does not say ghosts don’t exist, after all.

No, but it does state clearly that we are not to attempt to speak to them. Which is what these Ghost Hunters do routinely through their EVP’s and other equipment they’ve brought in (and pyschics).

My friends recommend TAPS to me. They call in Catholic Priests to remove evil ghosts on the show and never use psychics. I do think they try and communicate though, which is unfortunate. On the other hand, I think you’d be allowed to merely watch the show.

People meddle with powers that they don’t comprehend, a very foolhardy endeavour. These fools can’t differentiate between a true malevolent force (i.e. Demon) and a ghost.

Watching this show means you support what they do and you are boosting the show’s ratings. If people didn’t watch this tripe would be off the air due to low ratings. Who knows how many ignorant people have already been fooled and led astray by this show.

Ricko, that person you are speaking of is James Randi and he has not said anything about ghosts he offers a million dollar reward to anyone who can prove they have “psychic power”. And as a magician and hypnotist and know that these “psychics” are using magicians tricks mixed with psychology and as one of the worlds leading magicians and a former pro magician he knows the same thing, he will dies with that million dollars. =)

You can prove you have “psychic power”. Besides anyone can do it, its just people are to darned afraid to do it. Things do happen, they have happend to me, things that are unexplainable…things that have made my skeptic husband tell me “Call a priest!” because its just to weird. Although, Im not scared, like my husband…I just know it does exist.
