ghost or spirits

My son who is 23 and in the Navy just asked me "What does the Catholic Church teach or beleive about Ghost? I tried looking it up in the Catechism and didn’t find anything. Can you please help me give him an good answer? He was watching Ghost stories and i said he shouldn’t be watching it that’s why this came up.
