Hello,

I was in RCIA and was baptized less than a month ago. My children will be baptized next month and my sponsor will also be their godmother. What is an appropriate gift for my children’s godmother?

I saw a Sacred Heart of Jesus figurine today and I was thinking of getting her that. She is very religious. I’m not sure if every Roman Catholic will be appreciative of Sacred Heart of Jesus? I’m asking because as soon as I heard the sales lady explained to me “take Jesus’ heart out” I was like ooooh ewww. Anyways I just want to know if this would be an okay gift for someone very religious and if most Roman Catholics would appreciate sacred heart of Jesus. Here is a picture of the figurine. It is the one in the bottom center. roman.com/products.php?line=josephs-gifts-renaissance-saints

I was also thinking of getting her a gift card from Walmart in addition to the figurine. Is this necessary or too much?

Thanks.

I would enjoy it! But I do have a devotion to the Sacred Heart. Not everyone does. You could ask for a gift receipt, just in case she wants to exchange it.

If she’s short on money, the gift certificate would be great. But if she’s well off, it would be too much.
