My daughter attends a Catholic school where she has had an older female student as her “buddy” throughout this school year. She does little projects with her and sits next to her at Mass - that sort of thing. As the year comes to an end, and the buddy goes off to highschool, I’d like to get her something from my daughter, just as a “thank you”. We don’t know her well at all, so I’m really drawing a blank as to what would be an appropriate gift. Any suggestions? Thanks! 🙂

hmmm you said it was a catholic school so maybe if she is “into” it you could get her a rosary i have seen some very nice ones online and most churches have gift shops to sell them in the girls favorite color or birthstone color that might be pretty nice,or if she has an ipod an itunes giftcard for the amount you want to spend, there are these really nice divine mercy rosaries out there too so it would be nice to get her one of those.
u could get her some religous medals or a framed print of a favorite picture your daughter should talk to her and find out what she likes. if all else fails give her a bit of money and a thank you card. but the card is a must.

hope i was of help

Seems to me that in times like this it is good to fall back on the ol’ gift card ideas.

I am assuming that the girls are junior high age? Some gift card ideas:

-local bookstore
-Catholic bookstore
-gourmet candy store
-movie theatre
-jewelry store (you know, the types of places where young girls go to buy their ear rings, necklaces, etc)
-popular clothing store
-movie rental store
-iTunes card
-maybe a place to get her nails done or something (not sure how expensive that type of thing is, tho)

If you really appreciated this girl’s help, you could always go out and get her a nice little sterling silver necklace with a little St Thomas Aquinas medal. This would be appropriate because STA is the patron of students and school, I believe.

thanks so much for the suggestions!! They helped a lot! 😃

I’m sorry, I should’ve mentioned their ages… My daugther is in Kindergarten but her “buddy” is getting ready to start highschool.

My neighbor’s grandson looks up to me a lot as a role model (poor kid!), and when I wanted to give him a birthday gift that wouldn’t seem like a bribe or make him think I’m Santa Claus, I made a montage out of some photos I’d taken of him playing soccer, printed it on an 8x10, and framed it. (See attached; faces have been obscured to protect their privacy.)

Not an expensive gift by any means, but very personal.

Maybe you could do something similar with some photos of your daughter (and/or the two of them together) to give to her buddy as a reminder.

My dd is graduating 8th grade and will be starting high school in the fall.

What she would love more than anything else is
iTunes card
Walmart or Target gift card
Starbucks card
Borders or Barnes and Noble gift card

and a handwritten note. The gift cards would be much appreciated, but the note would be cherished.

Oh gosh - thanks for posting this thread! My son is about to finish up Kindergarten, and his “8th grade buddy” is also moving on to high school. I hadn’t even thought about a gift 😊
So THANKS for starting the thread - and THANKS for the ideas! 😃
