I am considering gifting a priest used vestments that are in good condition for mass. I am wondering if I should gift them because they are used.

If the priest has indicated a specific vestment that he likes, and it is in good condition, that might be OK. However, many priests have very specific tastes, so generally, unless you’ve discussed a specific item with him, I would not get it. Too many priests get vestments that they would never wear as presents, then they feel obligated to wear them.

Thanks for responding I was planning on gifting them the following vestments that came from a former parish and I didn’t want to see the vestments used or sold for other purposes. What should I do with the vestments. (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) Ask the priest if he would like them. If he does, get them. If not, then don’t.

The fiddleback chasuble and stole you have pictured are typically used for the Tridentine Mass. He may want to use them for the OF but would need the matching maniple and chalice veil to use them for the EF.

I use fiddlebacks in the Ordinary Form all the time. It’s a historical style, but it doesn’t have to be used strictly for the EF. A chasuble is a chasuble.

I have been trying to find the other parts of the vestments but have not found them. I asked the priest if he was interested and he said yes. They will most likely be used for the (of) of the mass. I have been trying to talk to our local priest to say the EF of the mass, but I have had no clear response.
