What a wonderful year, praise be to God for all the blessings in my very own family.

My wife will enter into the Catholic Church next Saturday at the Vigil Mass with Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist … yay!

My 2nd grader, we’ve been doing the sacrament preparation since last fall with Reconciliation and Eucharist earlier this year. She is officially prepared and can receive the Eucharist at any time … but we’re waiting for the ceremony and celebration, ours is on 4/14.

What kind of gift ideas would ya’ll be able to dream up for my wife who is entering the Church?

What kind of gift ideas would ya’ll have for a First-Communioner?

Thanks!

For your wife, I’d second the necklace. There is something special about being able to wear a symbol of your faith. A personalized Bible would also be a lovely gift as would a fine rosary.

For your second grader, a necklace is again a nice choice (I think jewelry is such a lovely gift), but we have some lovely Mass books and first communion rosaries. I really like the idea of Mass books, because they can follow along and connect to the Mass so much more with their own book.

Get them a nice set of matching rosaries. That way they both have beautiful rosaries and will remember that they shared a special time together

A really nice rosary for both of them! (perhaps even matching). If not that, then perhaps a necklace for your wife with her saint of choice’s medal/and or a crucifix?

For your first-communioner, if not the rosary, then a mass book is a great idea. But she might also like a saint medal (if she is named after a saint that might be a good idea). If her ears are pierced, how about cross earrings?

Obviously this is very specific to the kind of person your wife is, but if she is at all artistic, perhaps you could look at getting her a journalling Bible with the pens, etc. They’ve become very popular and many people I know love using art as a way to connect to scripture.

Thank you all for your great suggestions … yep, girls love jewelry, shiny baubles … LOL never understood, but ah well, I’m just a guy.

Crucifix necklaces and journal bibles, done deal! thanks!

Blessings.
