I have a great spiritual advisor who is a Jesuit priest. I’ve thought of giving him a good amt gift certificate to Goodwill because he mentioned that he goes there. But my question is this. Are Jesuit priest allowed to have gift certificates. Im pretty sure he lives by a vow of poverty. Just wondering. Thanks!

I {ME here} see two problems with this:

One GOODWILL is a BUSINESS that THRIVES of our freebees {I spent 40+ years in Retail management}

The Salvation Army would be a more Christian donation even for Catholics to support as they actually Help people not just give them “bargains”

Ask Father

If you want to something for HIM; OFFER up a few Masses for Him and take Him out to Dinner

God Bless you,
Patrick

I like giving gifts that people would like to use. Goodwill would be good. He also could order religious books if you give him a certificate for amazon.com. Does he have a hobby of some sort you know about? You could give him a gift with that in view. If he has a secretary, you could ask her for suggestions.
I wouldn’t be too interested in a gift certificate for the Salvation Army, because it is a Protestant Church and I would prefer to support the Catholic Church instead.

Goodwill is nonprofit.

Salvation army though I go there sometimes…

They reject baptism and teach some naughty things…

(And they are a religion)
