It would allow us to focus on the meaning of Christmas, I think, if the Pope called us to do all the Santa stuff on St. Nicholas’s Day. I mean, Sts. Mary and/or Joseph get celebrated with Jesus on some of Jesus’s feast days, but presents and trees and what not have little or nothing to do with Christ’s life on days celebrating special days in his life.
Is it ok to be Latin rite, but celebrate Christmas and Easter on the days in which they fall on Eastern calendars, esp. if your immediate and/or extended family makes crude jokes on those days and watch the dreck that gets played on tv even on those days so that the day can be spent by yourself in a holy way?
Thanks and Merry Christmas!
