When the new GIRM came out, those of us lectors,…etc…had to attend mandatory training. Some of the training was sort of applied awhile in our parish and some of it remained just as confused as before the training. An example : The day of the training I understood that no one was to approach past the bottom step. Well they continued making their way up to the top step. Recently they have made it closer to the side of the altar. And just this week we are back to allowing extra ordinary ministers to save the unconsumed body in the tabernacle. Forgive me if I used wrong terminology. Am I being anal about this or should there be a concern ? Did I understand correctly at all ?🤷

Your questions show you’re conscientious.

But the real answer if you have any questions is to ask the priest what he is expecting you to do. The overriding idea of the GIRM is to make the liturgy look good, and unless you’re synchonized with the celebrant and other ministers and acolytes, that mission is not going to be accomplished.

If you had questions, others probably did as well, you’d be doing everyone a favor if you brought them up and helped get everyone on the same page.
