When we are actually speaking about the GIRM to someone, is it pronounced with a hard G, or soft G? Girm as opposed to Jirm? Does anyone know?

It’s not a word. General Instruction of the Roman Missal.

I refer to it as the “General Instruction” or it’s full title when speaking.

I always say it with a hard G. That way, at least if someone doesn’t know what it is, they’ll say “what’s that?” rather than think you’re talking about a disease. I find calling it by its full name rather problematic as well, because then people think you’re talking about a weapon.

Yeah Bro. I know it’s not a word, but we do seem to refer to it as GIRM. I figured there has to be a way to pronounce it, but I do like just “General Instruction”.
