Give me rational, non-religious arguments for why gay-marriage should be illegal

You know, there is such a thing as a fact. You can’t just make up what ever you want to say and mark it as a religious belief.
Homosexuality is not an illness. Saying that it is, is like saying being outgoing or shy is an illness. It’s not. It’s just the way a person is.
We can pretend otherwise, but scientific evidence proves that certain people are born gay.
Saying that homosexuality is an illness isn’t following God’s word, or being a good Catholic, it’s spiteful.
And I thought that God loved and accepted everyone.

Consider… If I were to press the law makers for a definition of the term “sexual orientation”… eventually it would come down to homosexuality ( among other things ) is a “sexual orientation”.

But isn’t homosexuality inherantly and by definition in fact a sexual dis-orientation…???

If these lawmakers can explain to me how a sexual orientation can be a sexual dis-orientation… then I will explain to you how one ( 1 ) can equal zero ( 0 ).

Because it reinforces to my children and other’s children that being gay is ok.

It is not ok. Unfortunately some laws and some others attempt to promote it is an ok lifestyle.

Homosexuality is a behavior driven by desire. Everyone has desires that are less than perfect. The problem is when people give in to these improper desires. The inability to control ones desires and act in a manner that is compatible with society is where it becomes an illness. For instance thinking about a four letter word in public is not an illness but shouting out profanity in public in an uncontrolled manner is an illness.

The question first defines the terms of the analysis. You ask the impossible has we live and exist because of the wishes of an Authority who demands adherence to His laws. In such a condition the analysis is redundant. Rationality takes a back seat to Wisdom in such a context.

We are born into a religious context, and in that very second were bound to it’s reality by the way we live. So what you see now are people who are choosing various degrees of conformity to that religious guide given to each of us in our conscious . Some reject it entirely.

Homosexuality is not a permanent condition. “Gay” is an attempt to have society identify the person with the sin. It states in effect, “He is …”, just as we would attempt to change the morality of theft by saying “He IS Picker”. After instilling in our own minds a Picker cannot change, then man can modify rules to suit this new situation. The ruse is obvious.

Well, you’re right about the second part. Marriage is between a male and female, two of them, of the same species. If the natural-law arguments against same-sex marriage are rejected by society, what are the principled arguments left against (1) polygamy, and then (2) inter-species “marriages”?

If we say, “That will never happen”—well, I’m old enough to remember when we said that about gay marriage, too.
 
Oops. When I finished reading over the thread, I realized that everyone else has already made exactly the same argument I made. So just ignore me. Up with marriage!

The family is the fundamental unit of society. Society therefore has an interest in the health of the family. The health of the family is compromised when people get to invent their own definitions of family relationships. Polygamy, for instance, meets the same criteria as gay marriage – it doesn’t “harm anybody” and it’s a “private matter” – but nobody argues for its legality because its a threat to socety.

Homosexuality is a spiritual illness. More clearly - the actualization of homosexuality is a spiritual illness taken to its completion.

It is one of Lucifer’s most successful, on-going battles.

You want a non-religious answer to your query?..go to a non-religious site that feeds into your oppression.

Rational is that nature tells us male and female compliment each other. Anatomy is rational and nonreligious, it’s just common sense. It was not that long ago homosexuality was considered a mental illness and it was illegal. There was a logical reason for that.

In dogs, it’s pure dominance: the more dominant male feminizing the lesser male.

In nature, it is a reaction to undue stress on a population, not a sign of a healthy population.

In humans, there is little reason to believe otherwise.

All this proves is that people who do what homosexuals do are just as dumb as the animals…
 
The Great Attack Against Marriage and the Family

As our enemies seek to destroy marriage and the family, which is the fundamental element of society, it will be much easier to render us their slaves without any viable or sustainable resistance on our part.

America, as a democracy, is as good as its people. As a nation, we are turning our backs on God. We will receive what we deserve. Well, I think that statement is a little harsh. I choose to see homosexuality as a cross to bear as is diabetes or cancer would be. It’s a sexual disorder. People who are disordered are not necessarily dumb. In fact, there are many people who are mentally ill who are brilliant. Feel sorry for people who are homosexual. Single straight people are in the same boat as they are in a way becasue the Church dictates that sex is only for married couples. Thus, single people, some who are not virgins, I’m sure, are called to the same celibate cross as gay people. This being the case, gay people don’t have much of a leg to stand on if they were to say that it’s unfair that they can’t have sex.

Man has sex with woman and a new life is born.

Man has sex with man and severe colon damage.
