Well thank you very much for your answer. I guess I have a hard time with that, but I dont know. I’ll have to reread the scriptures, but I always felt we did it in rememberance of him.🙂

Don’t look solely to the Scriptures. Remember there is also the Tradition of the Church.

I see, as i don’t believe the other Christian denominations share this belief, but thats fine.’
Thank you for sharing with me, trying to understand. Hey the more you can get of Jesus, the better it is.🙂

Two things:

Christian denominations do not believe in the Real Presence.
Such groups do not have an actual priesthood that could confer the Holy Eucharist.

Next, the Catholic Church has never been considered a “denomination.”
Rather, it is The Church.

I remember a Homily regarding the Eucharist from the last year or so, it goes along these lines: In China a Church was attacked and the priest was murdered at the altar.
The Church was vandalized and the remaining hosts were removed from the Tabernacle and scattered on the floor. A young girl , either witnessed the event or was told of it,
nightly entered the Church and consumed one host per night using only her tongue.
She was seen and killed by the soldiers responsible for the desecration.
Her reverance for the Eucharist claimed her young life. She made the life or death choice that we are discussing! God Bless all the protectors of the Eucharist!!

In the early Church, yes every person was ready to die for Christ.
While I agree that many were, I wonder if you can say “every” person? That means, of course, not a single person in the Church wouldn’t. Can we really say what every single person in the Church would have done?
