Giving thanks for food "Bless us O Lord and these Thy gifts-"

So if a Catholic says this prayer before meals is it meaning to give God thanks?

Because the prayer doesn’t say thank You in it.
 
Acknowledging the food on the table as gift (from God) can pretty much speak of thanksgiving.
 
We acknowledge them as gifts we are receiving from God’s bounty. Of course we’re thankful for them, even if those exact words aren’t explicitly said.
