Its that time of the year again and my mailbox is stuffed with requests for money. A lot of these charities send cards, ornaments etc. and sometimes they even send dollar bills. I cannot give money to all of these groups. How do you handle the groups that send gifts and a request for money? I feel very guilty keeping these things and not paying for them.

Simple, toss it all in the recycle. Remove angel coins, nickels, and pins if included. These can go in the trash.

If you have the time, contact one of them and ask to be removed from the list.

Give to good causes only. One of the best causes, is good solid catholic media from Ignatius Press for family viewing. There is a lot to choose from. You support a good group and the benefits are directly to your family.

My policy is, if I didn’t choose you, I don’t give to you. I know it sounds brutal, but these mass-mailers are not treating you like an individual, so you are free not to scruple over donating just because they play all the mass-marketing tricks on you.

NO ONE who has worked in the mass-mailing industry has such moral issues like you have … wonder why?

I choose 2 or 3 and then ignore the rest. Remember, if you give to one, they will sell your name to dozens of others who will also try to hit you up.
