I think I’ll be doing that again this year (except for the prayer thread I’ve posted for my daughter )

Anyone else going to be giving it up this year?

I’ve already got different stuff lined up for Lent, so, no.

Unless of course I get an involuntary penance as in being suspended.

You know, I had not been thinking about it, but now maybe I will.

And now I feel bad saying so out loud.
In 15 years I don’t think I’ve done the CAF Lenten Fast before, because the vBulletin forum was kind of addictive. But I have the feeling that giving up the Discourse forum will be pretty easy.

And I feel bad saying that.
(And I’ll have to make sure to pick up a more ascetic penance too)

Lol…except suspensions are only 2 weeks…or 100 years, which is better than the old snarky suspension notice of “forever”.

But, I doubt you are in danger, given the quality of your past posts.

I have been having quite an emotional relationship with God lately. Which I would love to fix.
So this Lent I will be concentrating more on what I can just give than what I can give up. I would love it if I could just help somebody. I usually feel pretty useless no matter how much I try. What am I doing wrong? May God illumine me.

I’m giving up soda, which includes morning soda (i.e. energy drinks). I don’t feel like adding any more to that.

I’m not.

Most of my friends and family are atheists. This forum is the only connection I have to fellow Catholics. The people in my parish have their own families and don’t socialize with people such as me who did not grow up with them or attended the same schools as them.

No, I won’t be giving up CAF. I already have my Lenten schedule laid out. Well, maybe a few tweaks here and there.

These are the kinds of posts that are leading me to give up CAF for Lent.

Yes, I agree…unfortunately this is what appears to be an increasing tread on what was once a far more civil and charitable website.

If I understand you correctly, our emotions are an authentic face to God, I mean, we’re not holding anything back, just being real.
Like the psalms 🙂

Those of you giving up CAF, will you be giving anything else up?

I’ll be trying to give up meat, except for Sunday’s. I hope I can do it.
