My wife filed for divorce and has her own place. We went to court. When do I give up? Stop having hope?

At this time it seems best to just let things unfold. Do not fight your wife as this will only cause more hurt feelings and strengthen nay barriers she has erected.

Retain hope that things will work out in the end…maybe not how you would like…but simply trust that God will bring good from this.

Peace
James

JRKH says this very well. I went through this myself (about 7 years ago). I found at the time, the thing to do was to open the cage and let her out. They’re going to do what they’re going to do. You can’t make your wife stay with you if she doesn’t want to. It definitely hurts but it won’t hurt forever, I promise you :).

I thought the problem was me but found out over time it was her. I would only have contact with my ex-wife when it had to do with our son. I would not argue with her anymore. It took a little bit of time but the peace I found from this was amazing.

It would have been great if she eventually would have come back but she didn’t, she remarried. Before doing that though, she brought our son to me one Thanksgiving and dropped him off. I’ve had him with me ever since. I’ve since been remarried to (like me) a cradle/reverted Catholic lady who takes marriage very seriously.

There’s no telling what kind of blessing awaits for you (reconciliation, a remarriage and new family, or peacefully single with more time to devote to God and yourself). Pray, hope and don’t worry. I will pray for you.
