In the American Spectator today, Ben Stein, whom I usually enjoy, is saddened at the lack of a tribute to American soldiers at last night’s Academy Awards. Factually, he’s right—such paeans are standard operating procedure, so a message was sent with the omission. The trouble is that that message is the already-known one, namely that most of Hollywood does not support the troops. Had they produced a cheap tribute, I suspect they would have been assailed for that dishonest admiration, no?
