It’s good the Glamour magazine ran an article about this. But it really just skims the surface.
I notice lines like these:
*“one in three women will have at least one abortion by the time she is 45,”
“My boyfriend and I had been together for only one month and I got pregnant the first time we had unprotected sex. I didn’t even consider the possibility of keeping the child.”
“I was recently divorced and had just started dating my boyfriend,” she says. “I didn’t feel ready for another child.”
“While 54 percent of women who have an abortion say they were using contraception, 46 percent admit they weren’t.”*
The unexamined subtext to all this seems to be that sexual intercourse has become the equivalent to a first date kiss, or even a first date handshake, and abortion is akin to saniwipes if your date has germs.
Casual–apparently really casual–sex leads to casual abortion, except that it turns out to not be so casual after all.
