Now the Barbarian tells us a lot of ice in Antartica is caused by global warming. More than half of the reputable scientists now acknowledge climate is not the cause of man. My wife just asked me why I have the refrigerator door open with the portable heater blowing in it. I told her it would make more ice.

It is good to keep in mind that the methods of measuring and accuracy of worldwide measurement of temperature means has changed substantially since the 1880’s. Kind of like walking around my house and counting the paces to determine how many feet around the perimeter and throwing in an estimate for the distance around the garage and then comparing that perimeter with that of another house and garage measured totally with a microsquare.

What are you defining as ‘normal’? The base period for the data I linked to covers a mean period from 1951 to 1980.

True, I do believe that global climate change is a complete and total fiction designed to create a false sense of socio-political panic for the purpose of benefitting politicians through a series of wealth redistribution schemes and benefitting global corporations by creating an artificial need for “green” technology.

However, I am not “free” to act on this belief because I am forced, through taxes and invasive regulations, to either fund the government’s “response” to this fictional crisis, and am forced through the government’s manipulations of market forces to purchase or use inferior “green” technologies.

Think about it- how “free” would you feel if I told you that you could hold whatever religious belief you wanted, but then told you that you had to financially support and live according to the precepts of a different religion.

I am NOT free to believe that global climate change is false I am no longer required to participate in it in any way, shape, or form.

that’s fantastic- just what California needs- more industry destroying regulations.

California won’t have to worry about the impact of human beings on the environment in a few years because their economy is collapsing and it is just a matter of time before a mass californian exodus to other states.

You mean like, for instance, if the government adopted the Church’s teaching that abortion was murder?

Or if I had to pay taxes to support a highway system that I didn’t want to use?

Or maybe if I was forced to endure unncessary pollution, acts of terrorism, flooding, loss of biodiversity, etc. all of which go against my freedom to “act”. You see I am NOT free to believe that global climate change is true until I am no longer required to subsidize deforestation, fossil fuels and my children’s health and safety.

Am I free of people attempting to use government controls to force me to live the way these environmentalists want?

Am I free of people trying to use the government to force me to drive a different car?

That is my real gripe in this matter. You can believe anything you want to, I really don’t care. But as soon as you try to force me to change my life for your beliefs there will be problems.

Can you point out or link to the study indicating that the earth is warming due to carbon dioxide made by man?
 
Let me try to explain the Antartic gaining ice situation here for people.

In addition to increasing the amount of melting, global warming would also be expected to increase the amount of precipitation in the polar regions. There are two reasons for this: 1) warmer air can carry more moisture than colder air; and 2) lessened sea ice would lead to more evaporation from the ocean, as more ocean area would be exposed directly to the atmosphere. Global warming could therefore be expected initially to increase both melting and snowfall. Depending on which increase dominates, the early result could be either an overall decay or an overall growth of the ice sheets

Actually, that parallel only works in regard to the government forcing me to pay for other peoples’ abortions through my taxes.

I can’t even give you a “nice try” on that on- the best I can do is…“better luck next time.”

Yes, this is a good parallel. I would agree with you that all roads should be privately owned roads which can be funded however the owner sees fit.

That’s true- so maybe we both agree that we shouldn’t be forced to pay for anything that we don’t believe in?

There you have it folks.
Global Warming causes more snowfall and ice.

But something else I really love in this answer…“Depending on which increase dominates, the early result could be either an overall decay or an overall growth of the ice sheets”

So they are claiming global warming.
Then they claim global warming causes global cooling (short term).
And then they are claiming to not know if the global warming will continue or not after that.

I asked in post #631 and got nothing but silence, so I’ll ask a similar question:

Can you point out or link to the study indicating that the earth is warming due to (carbon dioxide), (pollution), (or xxx) made by man?

p.s. backtracking through the thread, I see no one provided a rebuttal to posts #564 nor #567. I think we confounded the left in supporting propoganda.
