But facts do not.
what does this mean?
It means that no matter how many people (or scientists) believe something, it does not make it so.

There was a time when everyone believed the earth to be flat.
This did not make it so.
There was a time when spontaneous generation was accepted by the vast majority of scientists.
This did not make it so.

History is full of examples of the facts directly contradicting popular (and scientific) belief.

First, show me the thermometer they used that had an accuracy of the purported .1 of a degree.
Second, show me the global observations from that same time period.

Remember, if they want to use the average as they show in the article, then the sample temperatures must represent the entirety of the globe. Without a large number of locations reporting tempreature, this is a problem.
read the article. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. It isn’t exact temperatures, but rather:

“The rise and fall of global temperature is actually that of temperature anomalies. These are variations in temperature from a pre-determined base period. For example, if the average temperature of a location in June from 1951 to 1980 was 20 °C, and the current June temperature is 21 °C, the temperature anomaly for the current June is 1 °, or 1 ° warmer than the norm. By combining these anomalies from all over the Earth and weighting them by area, we can approximate the global temperature anomaly.”

This is the same science that allowed us to put a man on the moon.

I’ve provided so many links, please read them. The answer, if you are really interested, is there before you.

How can us Catholics be respected by being followers of Al Gore? We’re supposed to be followers of Jesus. Incidentally the numbers are in and 2008 was the coolest in many years. The "Big Lie’ is dead. We are more in danger of entering another little ice age. Here we are following Al Gore shutting down coal plants and cooling down the earth. We are ambassadors of Jesus Christ and we have an obligation not to make fools of ourselves. Let’s think things through the next time.

Incidentally Al Gore used 20 times the amount of energy of the average home.
Global Warming?
Come up to Duluth MN. We can go swimming in Lake Superior. Bring an ax so we can chop a hole in the ice. Don’t forget your overshoes, you don’t want to freeze your feet walking to the waters edge. Once you get into the water it’ll feel warm compared to the wind chill factor, which is always below the temperature for the day. 🙂
Don’t forget the Hot Chocolate.

God bless, as you freeze to death ’ Al Gore’ in Minnesota:)

read the article.
Read the data.
The graph they show yields temperature variences of .1 degree.

I do not believe they could get temperature data that accurate at the time. Certainly not across the entire planet.

Remember, there are two problems with the data…
  1. it is too accurate for the time period.
  2. they did not have readings from enough geographic locations to get a useable average for the globe.
Actually, I took another look.
They measure further then the .1 degree mark. It would appear that they parse out temperatures to the hundredth of a degree.

Remarkable for 1850 tech.

Wow. Its winter in MN. And cold. Guess that puts all this Global Warming nonsense to rest. I can’t imagine what I was thinking.

Projected losses in food production due to climate change by 2080. Based on a consensus estimate of 6 climate models and two crop modelling methods, Cline (2007) concluded that by 2080, assuming a 4.4 C increase in temperature and a 2.9% increase in precipitation, global agricultural output potential is likely to decrease by about 6%, or 16% without carbon fertilization. Cline suggested a range of output potential decline between 10 and 25% among regions. As climate change increases, projections have been made that by 2080 agricultural output potential may be reduced by up to 60% for several African countries, on average 16-27%, dependent upon the effect of carbon fertilization (Figures 18 and 19). These effects are in addition to general water scarcity as a result of melting glaciers, change in rainfall patterns, or overuse.

I’ve work in agriculture for the last 10 years, as an analyst, and we are going to see impact here in the US this summer.

**If you have a glass of water with ice in it that is sitting in a warm room, as the ice melts the overall temperature of the water in the glass decreases, but once the ice is melted completely, the water will heat up rapidly. **

.
No it doesn’t. Water, due to hydrogen bonding, warms slowly as well as it cools slowly.

if the room is significantly warmer then the water, it does warm relatively quickly to the previously cool temperature.

what are you expecting?
The specific information is proprietary, but really, it is all in Shiva’s book an. I would look very closely at where my food comes from and make sure it is local, as in your backyard or a community garden.

Here is an awesome documentary on it called Blue Gold, based on Shiva’s book. I’m sure Water Wars is in the library or available through inter library loan.

It has now been established that more scientists are concerned about global cooling than global warming. Hitler said that if you tell a big enough lie people will believe it. But this is not Germany it is the United States, where eventually the truth is revealed. While some are busy using global warming to chase the new world order, they are putting many people in danger if another little ice age is coming - as many scientists fear. A reviewer for the IPCC, UN scientists, told an interesting story. He is considered the leading oceanographer in the in the world. Recently the 22 authors of an IPCC report stated the sea level was rising. he found not even one of those 22 authors were qualified to determine if the sea level rose. He stated those unqualified scientists were told what to write. The sea level has not risen.

If you call yourself a Christian then you present yourself as an ambassador of Jesus Christ. This is biblical. When you speak you will be held accountable for what you say. If you are willingly to blindly follow people like Al Gore and the UN you are playing Russian roulette with your salvation.

The last time we saw “authorities” question and deny something that the scientific evidence was overwhelmingly in support of was–

TOBACCO.

Tobacco companies denied and stalled on the overwhelmingly positive support of cigarettes causing cancer. This looks just ike that. There are folks out there who have to deny because they are afraid of lawsuits and want to continue to rake in the bucks before it is too late. Irresponsible, and morally questionable if you ask me.
You may find these two videos to be of interest.

youtube.com/watch?v=2T4UF_Rmlio&eurl=http://www.debatepolitics.com/Environment/37809-anthropogenic-global-warming-101-a.html (the main denial stuff starts at about 26 minutes in but the whole thing is worth listneing too.

But yep you are right they are definately connected!

science works by consensus.
Absolutely false. The truth is the truth. Consensus means nothing. Many scientific advances were made by people “bucking the trend”. Consensus means nothing.
This is the same science that allowed us to put a man on the moon.
Really. How?

Neither can we. Like it or not, the earth keeps moving on, despite our best efforts to control it or argue about it.

Hi valke,
yes, it’s cold in Minnesota in the winter. Today it was a balmy 20 above, which is rather nice for the end of Feb. 🙂
Jan. is usually the coldest month. Some towns near the Canadian border can be 50 Below at times, that’s cold. 😉
I live at the head of Lake Superior, so we get the wind chill off the Lake which lowers the temps more. But if you dress for the weather and learn to drive on ice and snow, you’ll be fine.
Come up and visit, in July. It’s nice and warm then.

God bless,
jean8

This is a challenge for Valke 2 who appears to be a fan of Al Gore and the UN in perpetuating the ‘big lie’ of global warming. A report just came out with the results of the four main testiing labs of companies that measure the temperature of our globe for the year 2008. Could you research those numbers and report back to us? A ‘big lie’ would look at numbers that went down substantially and say they went up.

Also could you tell us when we arrive at the one world government who would you like to see the leader to be? I know the plan.

from the spirit of Calvert

Projected losses in food production due to climate change by 2080.
Old news.
Another group is hysterical over some perceived possibility of food production falling.

Heard this before. Many times. All shown wrong.
Sorry, but without rather substantive evidence backing the claim, they are just another chicken little cryng out.
