I can’t believe it- I never even considered that fungus would be aggravated by global warming!!!

I guess I’ll add “angry cave fungus” to the list of things the french are afraid of. 😛
LOL! (And I did in fact laugh out loud).

Exactly. That’s why I always roll my eyes at all this dinosaur nonsense.
And how about the global warming nonsense? Be it that anyone can attempt to predict that the world is any warmer now (and will continue to get warmer and warmer) than it was 100 years ago, let alone attribute it to people driving cars.

I parked my car in the garage for the remainder of the day. I certainly don’t need to be aggravating any ornery fungus out there. Don’t worry, I got my arsenal ready for them though by privelege of our right to bear arms. Besides it is too cold and blustery out now to go anywhere with our end of February snow storm wrapping up. Fungi should be happy now! 😃

.
Of course I was kidding. The earth is less than 6,000 years old.
:tiphat:

It is rare that something on the computer screen can make me laugh out loud.
Thanks.
'twas not a fun day, and the injection of humor was needed

On a related but different note, what do people think about the idea that a “green economy” will bring money and jobs into the country

It undoubtedly will cost jobs as well. (everything costs jobs)

I do not know if the gain in job creation will outweigh the loss of jobs.

For certain there will be serious repurcussions if the middle east gets word that we are crawling out of their pocket. Undoubtedly the production of oil would be cut to ‘balance’ the market (and cushion their wallet).

We may be better off short term with drilling for more oil locally.
Once we have our own supplies, we can move to ‘greener’ without the middle east toying with our wallets.

Anytime the government decides to regulate (buzzword for limit by control) anything, ultimately it is bad for the economy.

You really think the regulation of banks or the regulation of utilities is bad for the economy?

Your GISS citations show that surface temperature over the period of the last century rose. They do not show that the temperature is rising now and in fact the temperature has been relatively flat since the beginning of this century. I recognize that a decade or less is an inconsequential period of time on the climatological scale, nonetheless, it is not accurate to say that temperatures are rising since, for whatever reason … they haven’t for a period of several years.

Ender
I am assuming you mean beginning of this decade right? Cause there has definately been temperature rise… Now does saying that the overall trend is the temperature is rising…mean that their can;t be any dips in temperature that it must be a smooth rise? No it doesn;t and yes a decade or less is not enough time to really say there is a trend and warming has stopped Here is a video that might explain it better. youtube.com/watch?v=HQ3OLRgcSII&feature=channel_page

And since part of it is cited in the youtube link here is another link. guardian.co.uk/environment/2008/sep/22/climatechange.scienceofclimatechange

I should note too in general that this thread moves very fast and I am just one person so if I donlt respond to every question addressed at the points I make doesn;t mean that oh no that those points can;t be addressed! I just get overwhelmed that and my eyes hurt from staring at letters on a screen 😛 So it takes me forever sometimes too do anysort of real research and often by then it seems the thread has added a few more pages and I am way behind again! This is not addressed at anyone in particular I just thought I would say it cause I know I haven;t addressed every point and didn;t want people thinking the wrong thing. 🙂

Just to clear the air here, one could assume that I’m for Global Warming. This is a very fair judgement. However, I am in fact neutral on this issue. You see I’m a simple environmentalist if one could say, I love the beauty of the Earth and it saddens me to see garbage litter along the highways and such and so I pick it up. So if ever I question you practices and I’m seen to side with Global Warming, I’m actually leaning on you because I think you’re one of those lazy people who could put their garbage in a garbage can. And I’m Canadian so we’re used to the cold. I’d love for another ice age. And if Global Warming turns out to be true I’m fine with that because that would make Canada a tropical paradise. Why would I want to prevent that from happening?
Umm just curious but why do you think global warming would make Canada a tropical paradise? It will get warmer but I donlt think it will be a paradise in Canada anytime soon. And I donlt think you would like an ice age either. 😛

I am convinced that government interference in anything is a bad thing.

If you want to see something done badly, hand it over to the government.

I have already heard that
Not responding
To global warming
Is a
Social injustice

What are the social injustices of
Responding?

I have heard…
  1. Creating methods of population control.
  2. Controlling economic development of poorer countries.
Are these true?
Are there others?
I’m a degreed meteorologist with a good amount of course work in climatology. Global warming is malarky at best, a society manipulating lie at worst.

How many of you know that as VP AlGore eliminated more living wage middle class jobs than anyone in history. Now with the the elimination of jobs caused by the ‘fairytale’ global warming more Americans will lose their jobs. How many jobs will AlGore cost America. It’s all about the ‘novus ordo seclorem’ as written on the back of your dollar bill. That means new world order in Latin.

Really? How did he do that? And again, another skeptic as opposed to a “believer” throws Al Gore’s hat into the debate ring.

In reply to Valke 2, another follower of Al Gore comes out of the closet. As for me you are correct saying am a believer in Jesus Christ. Let’s talk about your saviour Al Gore. He uses 20 times the amount of energy as the average family. Also let’s talk about the nine outright exaggerations or outright lies a court in England found in his film An Inconvenience Truth. Maybe you don’t know that Al Gore paid carbon offests. What a good guy! There’s just one problem. Gore paid it to a company he partly owns and chairs. How about the zinc mining operation that got fined twice that is on the land owned by none other than - your saviour- Al Gore. When Al Gore was senator of Tennessee the state of Tennessee has the second most water pollution in the United States. One more piece of bad news to Valke 2. Al Gore did not invent the internet. If you want to follow Al Gore that is fine. I’ll stick with Jesus. Jesus said of the last days, “Let no man deceive you.” You might want to put down the words of Al Gore and start reading about Jesus.

ummml. putting your personal attacks aside, let’s stick to your original assertions. How did Al Gore destory middle class jobs as president?

Skeptics? Believers?

I just can’t get over how these global warming buzzwords make it sound like a religious movement.

I guess it is just a matter of time before I’m branded a global warming heretic and forced to wear a green letter around my neck so everyone in my village knows what kind of person I am.
